I've been doing so well this time around, especially given that I do the news on a Tuesday for spnfencentral and end up on sites that will be spoilery... (that's what happened today - I was news gathering and was reading episode titles and enough of a summary that I'm a tiny bit spoiled before I realised it...

Yay for the fic pick ups!

Would I get the fic only knowing the Buffy side of things? (Other than the basic "Two very pretty male twins fight supernatural evil with slightly different rules for how vampires work")?

I'm completely and utterly flabbergasted to be honest, both of the major fandom newsletters picked it up, even though I didn't post to many BtVS comms at all!

You might get it, although it is entirely Dean POV. The basic theme behind the show is that the two brothers (not twins, Dean's four years older than Sam) have been brought up knowing how to hunt evil after their mother was killed by a demon when Sam was six months old. Sam has some kind of supernatural ability (he gets prophetic visions) and may or may not be the 'Chosen One' for a bunch of demons. Season one saw the boys reconnecting after Sam had broken away and looking for their father who had vanished. Season two saw them coming to terms with thier father's death and trying to stop Sam turning evil. Season three is seeing them come to terms with the fact that Sam died and was only brought back by Dean making a deal with a demon which gives him (Dean) a year to live in return for Sam's life.

The show is *really* well written, Ben Edlund is one of the Exec Producers and contributes a lot of scripts, the actors do a fantastic job and although there can be the odd slightly dud script, overall it's awesome.

My fic is set immediately after John (the boys' father) has died, Dean's 'miraculously' recovered from some serious injuries and has been told that if Sam turns evil he will have to kill him. He's not telling Sam that yet (and at that point we the viewer didn't know what had been said, we just knew something was going on), so Dean is pretty much broken wide open and alone for the first time ever.

He shares a lot of character traits with Xander in a way, hugely loyal, hides pain behind humour, dangerous enemy to make, but he has the confidence that Xander lacks.

So... after all that, you might be able to judge whether you want to read it or not?

Ah, I know what that was, I was confusing 'Wincest', with 'Twincest', used to describe the (canon and rather crucial) relationship between Jaime and Cersei Lannister in George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire cycle.

Well, I'll have a read of it anyway, sure it'll be good stuff!
