A reassurance - I already run two awards sites, I already have the coding, it reeally isn't that much extra work for me. Also? I kinda thrive on what little stress in involved.

I think at this rate I'll be going ahead with a trial round, and probably have the option thedothatgirl mentioned up above in the comments - both popular choice and judged, so each category would have to winners.
