Thanks for the tip about the ice
rachelmap - I never usually leave ice on for longer than a couple of minutes at a time so leaving it on a little longer really did seem to make a difference.
By lunchtime my shoulder wasn't as painful so I decided against going for an X Ray (mostly because I have better things to do with my time than hang about for four hours at a time waiting for the NHS to get their act together - I love our health service, I'm very aware of how lucky I am to live in a country which has a national public health service like this, but I'm still not a fan of hospital waiting rooms.) If it gets worse, or if it doesn't get better, I will go back, for now though I'm going to go on swallowing 'brufen repeatedly. Plus I'm not driving for a couple of days - although admittedly the reason for that is that I'm heading through to Edinburgh again tomorrow night - but the break from those damn roundabouts might help ease up my shoulder a little.
Anyways, it's my nephew's third birthday today and I've been invited to his birthday tea. At 8 o'clock tonight. Kinda late for a birthday 'tea' but never mind... I asked him what he wanted for his birthday and after the repeated insistance that he wanted a Scooby Doo cake, he informed me in all seriousness that he wanted either a Dalek or a Lightsaber. Yup, definitely a relative of mine! So I'm off soon to go give him the lightsaber I managed to find for him. It'll be fun to see how much damage he can cause with a three foot long piece of plastic. :)
