I'm a Dean girl, I'll happily admit it, but what is it with the Dean girls not liking Jo? I mean come on, she's cute, she's the daughter of a hunter (and probably a hunter herself) she's sassy with a bullshit detector I envy. I like her a lot. She's actually a little like a blonde Faith who had a decent family. I like her a lot, she's a helluva lot better match for Dean than Cassie was (although I didn't actively dislike Cassie as much as a lot of people do!)*
So anyway - the episode. My god those boys are taking it up a notch this year! Not that they were slouching last year, but every time I think they can't get any better, they do!
Sam, at the end, the confession that 'no, I'm not okay' and then the 'but neither are you'. Man, my heart broke.
And then Dean, taking it out on the Metallicar. I had my hand to my mouth just out of sheer angst.
Just... wow. And the creep factor was definitely high in this episode, I was already freaked out a little by the preview clip (the "you were right dad, he is my friend..." bit - kept me awake a little I don't mind saying!) and the extended version was just as creepifying. I did find a lot of it nonsequitorish, like there had been some serious script editing and some elements seemed to crop up from nowhere. I can't quite put my finger on it right now, but I do know Dean's "I can't believe we keep talking about clowns" just seemed to come from nowhere given the circumstances.
And whatever John told Dean has driven a wedge between the boys, that's not good and is something I could be tempted to hate John for. Although I have doubts about the apparently widespread assumption as to what 'the truth about Sam' is, even if that turns out to be the case (which I think is too... final, cause could there be a third season with either no Sam or with them completely opposed?) then I don't believe it would be the last thing John would say to Dean. Not after the 'I should have been the one to say that' speech (which kills me ded every time...). 'Course it could be a double bluff and then... :)
* I have an icky thought. Jo is Ellen's daughter. Ellen knew John, did she 'know' John? Cause seriously, do you believe the man was completely celibate for 23 years? Even if it was a drunken one-night stand, hell, sympathy sex, whatever. :)
