librarians - who'd be one?!  
For those of you who don't know, I'm a librarian. No. Really, I am. And I'm sitting here, at work, in my jeans, trainers and Tweety Pie t-shirt having just come from a "re-branding" meeting where we're trying to come up with ways to convince the students to make more use of the library.

I "volunteered" to be one of the "young & funky" staff members who will be manning the library stall at the Freshers' Fair in September - we were kicking about ideas for themes we could use and is it so wrong that I kept coming back to using Buffy as a selling point?!! I mean, hell, they were in the library more often than I am and I work in one!!

Buffy is a good idea to publicise (sp?) it... The only thing is would the freshers be of the right age to identify with it... Most of the fans I've encountered are around my age or older... your average fresher will only have been 11 when Buffy started (now that's a scary thought) and so may not appreciate the library aspect of it all

The American Librarian's Association used Buffy a lot to try and encourage library use, they even had a 'slay ignorance in the library' poster with Giles/the Scoobies on it and used Giles as their pin up for their mag:) I tried finding the poster for my mum a couple of years ago. I didn't have much luck but I think there were some sites that came up. (btw, Mum was an English teacher and in charge of the library, so looking for it wasn't just a random thing!*g*)
