gah, work again!
I'll put the second part of my Fusion adventures up soon - including an explanation why Nick is Beck and my handbag!

Right now I'm too tired and fed up to do it so I'll just have my weekly Monday morning rant about how much I hate my job.

I do. I hate it. Really.

*grin*

Got some writing done yesterday, part four of What a Difference a Day Makes is more or less complete. Got the fight down (I think) which is strange because I normally run screaming for the hills whenever I find myself faced with writing an action sequence. Got the "conversation" done (that's actually been written for about a fortnight now and makes me smile every time I re-read it). Now all I have to do is mesh them together and add the ending of this part. All without giving too much away... So expect it in about a year then!

You just don't seem to be pleased any day of the week that involves work. :)

Did you abandon your Andrew story? I was kinda looking forward to reading it.

LOL! No you're right - why am I still at work again?

Andrew story isn't abandoned, I just felt more in the mood for WaDaDM yesterday so it took priority.

Because your saving up for another convention. :)

Thats good. I'm very proud of myself for wanting to read an Andrew story, so I would be very sad if it was not to be.

slaps hand against forehead in comical manner - that's why I'm doing it! Thank you!

I now want to write the Andrew story - think my boss will mind? *grin*

LOL! Well, definitely the way I act at work anyway...

You'd never know I'm actually a supervisor would you?

What don't you like about it? The simple fact that its work and you have to wake up to go, or the job itself. Or your coworkers? I'm all curious.

It's a lot of things actually, when I started in the library I was on the enquiry/reference desk and got to deal with the students every day. I loved the customer service part of it! Then this job was advertised and my boss at enquiries basically twisted my arm into applying for it. I didn't really want it to be honest and deliberately missed the closing date but she checked with the staffing office and they said it would okay to apply late. My letter was chock-full of spelling mistakes and I didn't bother too much at the interview. Imagine my shock when I got the job...

I spent the next week talking to my then-boss at enquiries asking what the chances were of me ever being promoted if I turned it down. She pretty much said slim to zero so I took the job.

There's no customer service, I have a personality clash with very nearly every person in this department and I sit at a desk all day sending emails which basically say "We haven't received this part yet can you check why not" and then swearing at the replies. (As well as doing a million and one other things as well)

The job sucks, it's boring and repetitive, and I do not get on with most of the people here. Plus, I'm out of the house for 11 hours a day because of the commute and when I get home I'm too tired to do anything I enjoy (writing, web design and so on)

I am looking for work elsewhere, and I'm actively setting up two businesses. One of which is kind of taking off in a way and the other I just need to convince the bank that there's a market for...

Ooh, setting up businesses eh? Sounds interesting. Web design businesses?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on May 10th, 2004 03:56 am (UTC)
One of them is - it's the one that's kinda taking off to be honest. We have one paying client and two non-paying clients right now so fingers crossed!

One of the bosses told me about a woman in Harrogate he knows of, she's set herself up as a kinda PA for hire, she just organises things for people who are too lazy/have too much money to do it themselves. I swear if I ever decide to go into business on my own I may as well do that.

I'm glad the web-design things taking off though, 'tis all a fun thing to do.

That sounds like my kind of thing... although, I can't even organise my own life so maybe not!

Getting away a little early today so I should get a bunch of stuff done tonight - fingers crossed!
