D'oh!!!
I just drove home from work - a full hour on the road, nice and sunny, had my shades on music turned up, traffic was okay. And then I get to the traffic lights in the village before mine, catch a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror and realise that one of the lenses had fallen out of my shades when I put them on.

Yup, that's right, I just drove for an hour with one lens in my shades.....

I used to consider myself fairly intelligent but hey...

That's a cute story! Believe me,I've been even ditzier! I once left the house and didn't realize til I was halfway to where I was going that I had no SHOES on.....though I was rather wondering why my foot felt funny on the gas pedal!

LOL! OF course now you've said that I'm going to be checking I have shoes on every time I leave the house now!

Thats funny. Don't doubt your intellegence, it's hard to notice things that are right in front of your face. I've lost my glasses more than once only to find I'm in fact holding them in my hand or wearing them.

I passed a bunch of kids who were looking at me in an odd way - I just thought it was 'cause the cd was on quite loud but now I know the real reason....

:shakes head in shame:

It must be the day for it - my friend Sam just posted this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/smhwpf/29406.html)

I think we've all had 'our moments'. Though, that is priceless Mara. =)
I've done the glasses thing too. I walked around my entire house, disassembled my room and the basement in search of my glasses. I asked my enitre family if they'd seen them. (at the time I only needed them to read) I looked for a good hour and a half before my sister couldn't keep a straight face anymore.

Yep, I was wearing them....

Your sister is just cruel! Okay, so my sister would probably do that as well but it's funny to hear yours is the same!

Yeah, but I got her back when she did the same thing after getting her glasses... except they were hanging off her shirt. =) *sigh* Ahh, siblings...
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on May 25th, 2004 10:50 am (UTC)
Ahh, siblings...

exactly - who'd have 'em?
[identity profile] ex-claudia69504.livejournal.com on May 25th, 2004 10:56 am (UTC)
I don't know... I wonder if we could set up a sibling auction... What do you think? I mean, we'd have to glue their mouths shut...but Super Glue comes in non-toxic now, right?

It's not intelligence
Heard a story in Arizona. Chaired Professor of Mathematics used to go out driving to think, believing that this was a productive use of his time. He drove over a bridge. He looked into his rear-view mirror. He saw the closed bridge, prepared for destruction, get blown up after he drove over it. Supposedly, he doesn't drive himself around anymore.

You know, that doesn't surprise me... *grin* Maybe the absent-mindedness is actually a sign of higher intelligence then?

Re: It's not intelligence
Brilliant!

And as an ex-mathematician, I can well identify with this...

LOL at Sho too. As [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho says, it is a bit of a day for it!

Re: It's not intelligence
I don't know if I've told this story recently, but my wife, the Ph.D., once flushed her keys at a store. We had one car at the time, so I had to take a taxi out to rescue her. Then there's the time we managed to lock both her keys and mine in her van.

Today, so far, I've been lucky.
