Phew!
No hospital appointment! Yay! My throat infection is just a virus and will go away with plenty of liquids and paracetamol so no getting the old tonsils whipped out is very definitely a plus! On a slightly more worrying point, the doctor thinks there's a chance I might be diabetic so she's running tests just now. Hmmm. Might explain why I get so tired so quickly and drink so much water all the time... Ah well, no point worrying about it till the results come in anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] willowmina has kinda talked me into doing another site as well, this won't be an auto-archive though, and I'm not sure how long it'll be before it gets set up. I'm still blown away with how successful INAP has been in just a week - over 200 stories already and a whole bunch of those are by favourite authors?! Wow! And one of them called me a "Xander connoisseur" - me? I'm flattered!

Right - off to rework some of Crimson Regret which I'm waiting to finish it before I post it to INAP and really should get the next part posted on here... hmmm. might do that later.

(btw, fantastic icon for this post is by [livejournal.com profile] callie_girl)

Thats great about your throat! But it stinks about the diabetes. I really hope that you don't have it!

Thanks - so do I! I was tested for it before and it came back negative, but that was a few years ago now. Fingers crossed, I've got to go back in a couple of weeks to discuss the outcome - they'll probably have the results by tomorrow though so I might just give them a call then to see.

Does it run in your family? Because then your chances of getting it are higher.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2004 12:06 pm (UTC)
My grampa had it, but that was late-onset diabetes brought on by years of drinking (he wasn't an alcoholic, just Scottish), and my uncle on that side has it - although he *is* an alcoholic so that might have something to do with his getting it. One of my best friends is diabetic and has coped with it really well all her life so it's not that big a deal anymore, it's just one of those things I never thought I'd be diagnosed with when I'm nearly 30.
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on July 19th, 2004 12:27 pm (UTC)
My Grandpa was diagnosed with it a few years ago. Not sure why he was. He refuses to alter his lifestyle, and he seems to be doing fine. My step grandmother has had a type of it all her life, and the thing that bothers her most about it is that she can't eat a lot of bread.

I have faith that you'll be able to get by should you have it.

But I still hope you don't have it.

My grampa probably drank more after he was diagnosed than he did before... considering he was a sailor and a Scot, that is actually saying a lot! He didn't really let it change his life much. My uncle on the other hand, I don't get on with at all, he's always coming up with fake cancer scares and after twenty years of that I've given up on him and his family. His daughter is actually a student at the Uni I work at and all the staff know to warn me when she's around so I can hide.

He treats his diabetes as a kind of "woe is me, amn't I so hard done by?" which pisses me off to be honest. I'd rather take my grampa and my friends example - and your Grandpa's!

Hey Sho,

Yay for the healthy tonsils and I hope there's no diabetes. (Must be something in the air - nurse checked me for it last week, turns out I'm fine.) Fingers crossed that you're fine too and are just feeling a bit under the weather because of the throat problem and just randomly drinking lots.

Beck.

fingers crossed yeah, I'm feeling really bad today with the throat problems so I'm about to head home and spend the rest of the day curled up feeling sorry for myself (and getting out of all the crap I haven't done yet at work - yay!)

I figure it's just a bug that's making me drink so much, I've definitely got something 'cause everyone else is sitting her in t-shirts and I've got my sheepskin jacket on and still feel cold... hmmm, bed and lemsip are calling I think!

You definitely sound poorly - get yourself home and all tucked up! I prescribe an afternoon stretched out on the couch with Buffy/Angel/Firefly in the background that you can doze along to. A slave to bring various refreshments as required would also be quite handy.

Take care!

Wonder if I can convince Dram the dog to be my slave for the afternoon? Hmmm... *grin*

I'm home, the kettle's on and I'm just going to veg and watch Angel s4 I think...

So you still haven't managed to get that Xander clone activated yet?

did you send me the Xander clone? I didn't get him, the postwoman must have intercepted him.... grrr
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on July 20th, 2004 06:03 am (UTC)
Didn't you get a sample when you met Nick Brendon? That would've been the best time to get some pure DNA to be able to get a Xander clone from. Anything else'd just be too one dimensional.

:)

but that would mean I'd have to be some kind of scientist or something... I mean, I know I'm a geek but...

Hope you haven't got diabetes, both my Mum and my Uncle have it, but both are controlling through tablets and diet. It's not too much hassle. Having to inject would be a pain though, my second cousins wife had to inject.

I hope you don't have it, but if you have and they've caught it now, it's better than waiting 10 years to find out.
