I just want to state for the record that beef flavoured Hula Hoops are just about the perfect substitute for lunch.

I would also like to point out that the above statement should be taken in jest and is not intended to promote Hula Hoops as a viable meal alternative, just, you know, when you're really, really hungry and can only scrape together enough pennies for one thing out of the pathetically stocked vending machine at work...

What are Hula Hoops? I'm picturing Funion type chips, but I'm probably wrong.

Ooo, what are Funion chips? Hula Hoops are corn (I think) crisps (sorry, chips) which are little hoops that every kid in the UK thinks it's really cool to wear as rings. They're very much a kid thing, but they were in the machine so they became the chosen ones... *g*

I spelt it wrong It's Funyuns. They're highly addicting "onion" flavored rngs. They're chips. I don't think they taste remotely like onion, or any known veggie flavor on this planet, but they're yummy.

What a cool site! http://www.taquitos.net/snacks.php?snack_code=278

Hula Hoops are smaller, I can barely fit them over the end of my finger nowadays, but they're yummy!

I've been exploring it and I would have to concur that it is a cool site. :)

I'm trying to imagine what Hula Hoops would taste like, but I keep remembering some other ring shaped chip that I ate a long time ago that was all gross and chalky.

I was looking at the English Crisps catergory and I'm going to have to say you guys have better flavored chips than us. We have cheese, Sour cream and onion, and salsa flavored for the most part, and barbeque. There are some chip companies that make more flavors, but those are the kind most of us are used to. I don't think it's fair.

I like all the weird crisps that never last very long because I'm the only one who ever buys them... like the Sausage and Baked Beans flavour that was out for a while... I kid you not.

They stopped making, or at least stopped selling them were I could find them, my favorite ever chips. They were pretty tame though, BBQ and Cheddar. They were the only BBQ chips I could ever eat without wanting to puke. :sigh: And now they're gone.

Oh and sausage and baked bean sounds gross. But the Guacamole flavored chips that are everywhere here, that I refuse to eat sound worse. And the hotdog flavored chips and the ketchup flavored chips that I've seen with my own two eyes are as horrible as I allow myself to imagine.

LOL! We had ketchup flavour ones for a while which were awful. The Marmite ones on the other hand were really nice - and I don't like Marmite normally!
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2004 04:09 pm (UTC)
What's Marmite?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on July 23rd, 2004 04:26 pm (UTC)
Dammit! I had this whole reply typed there and my machine crashed on me. Damn Bit Torrent!

Marmite is basically yeast extract which is a polite way of saying it tastes like boiled pureed boot leather.....

the crisps were nice though!

I guess I'm weird, matmite on toast is actually really nice if someone else makes it, but if I do it? Bleuch!!! I guess I spread it too thick or something.
