Crap, crap, crap
I took the afternoon off, I'm still knackered and watching Charmed of all things... Why?!

Anyways, I've been working on a new part of the site. Putting a form in and can I get it to work? Can I buggery. I get why some of it isn't working, but I cannot work out how to forward the page to an acknowledgment page. I'll get there eventually, I just can't concentrate just now....

Ignore me, I'm ranting. Also ate a heck of a lot of sugary stuff today which is not of the good since I didn't eat much of anything else. Joy, I'm headachey and crabbit and watching crap on TV. Fantastic afternoon off....

I thought you were supposed to be watching your diet. If you keep on eating sugary things you'll eventually have to start injecting Insulin to control your blood sugar level.

*stern look*

I know, I know. Hence the reason I crashed out last night. I'm bad, must do better!

(and of course you know I haven't had any breakfast this morning don't you? *g*)

*even sterner look*

Okay, from the post you put up this morning it seems like you've learned a lesson, but then you go and not have any breakfast.

And it's no use grinning at me like that, it's not going to work, this is going to be a proper telling off.

Look, I know it can be difficult working full time and living on your own and then trying to sort yourself 'proper, healthy' meals all the time, but unless you want it to get worse, that's what you're going to have to do. And it will take time for you to change your routine, and you will get pissed off with it and occasionally think t hell with it, but it is worth it Sho, because you don't want to have to end up taking insulin. And then if you decide to miss some of your injections, then a very real possibility is you going blind. What a lot of people don't realise is that in the UK the most common reason for people going blind is Diabetes, and in quite a few cases diabetes is actually caught by an optician rather than by a doctor, because it affescts your eyes so readily (Which will be the major reason for you massive headache.)

I know me nagging isn't going to change the way that you eat, but if your doctor hasn't already suggested it, the next time you see him/her, I'd ask if you could see a nutritionist or a dietician and they'll be able to help you out with information on sorting quick and easy meals that aren't going to throw your blood sugar levels out of sync.

And if you do want to eat sugary things, the best time to eat them is just after you've had a main meal as, although you're still eating the same amount of sugar, because you're eating with more food, the other food you've eaten absorbs some of the sugar so your body finds it easier to break it down because it's not having to deal with as high a concentration of sugar.

And make sure you eat breakfast, 'cos you're just going to feel shitty all day now.

I know, I agree with everything you said - trust me I've heard it all from my sister as well. You're right, feeling shitty this morning and knowing why that is has knocked some sense into me. I've been doing better, actually making meals when I get in from work, cooking huge batches of stuff at the weekend and the like, but 5.30am is just too early for my body to eat anything so I tend to skip out on breakfast.

That will change eventually, it has to, and this week I've been asked to switch breaks so my morning coffee isn't until 10.30 now, another day of that and I'll be so hungry in the morning I'll have to eat first thing.

The doctor (she's a she) lectured me on breakfast as well, I've never been a breakfast person though, so breaking the habit of a lifetime is not going to be a quick thing.

you know, you almost got a reply from Xander there, I was still logged in from my [livejournal.com profile] _end_of_days post!

Even if you have a piece of toast or a slice of bread in the morning before you go to work, it's better than nothing. You can always grab something to eat before you actually start work.

I have a banana with me today, that's almost like breakfast right?

I will try harder, promise!

It'll take time for you to change your eating habits, but your friends do worry about you.

I know, and it's much appreciated. (feel a bit better after eating the banana by the way!)

You will feel better. I think the hardest thing for you (for any Scot really) will be cutting down on the drinking. You don't have to cut it out completely obviously, my Mum needs to take pills to control her Diabetes, and she still has a couple of drinks at least every other night. She doesn't go out and get drunk anymore, but that's as much to do with her age as much as her having Diabetes.

The drinking thing's not too much of a problem to be honest, it's really just the actual food intact and trying to actually cook something instead of grabbing a handful of sweets...
