*grins*
So by about 11 o'clock this morning I was completely scunnered with the huge daunting task that was getting on top of the White Knight Awards for Xander-centric fanfiction. There was no way I was going to abandon it half-done but I was on the verge of saying screw it all and just update the nominees page.

I took a break, spent some time with the niece and nephew, went on a sugar high (very.very bad idea with the high blood sugar thing) and then came home and forced myself to email every single nominee personally. It was a chore, I'm not going to lie, I should have had a system in place before the launch, but I had no idea there would be so much interest in the first week. I've come up with a system now, and it seems to be working (more or less) but I was still breathing a sigh of relief when I hit send on the last one.

And then the replies started coming in. People saying thanks, people posting to lists that they were so happy to be nominated, and then this one, which makes it all worthwhile:

Oh my goodness! This is all more exciting than I could possibly tell you

Something about that was so contagiously excited that I've found my enthusiasm again! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] veggiebelle for helping me remember why I love doing this again!

And also, thank you to the person who nominated What A Difference A Day Makes for best unfinished fic, I'm incredibly flattered but have no hope of winning against the other fics in that category! (I should probably point out that I cracked open a couple of beers to celebrate so I'm slightly tipsy now...)

Yay! And I really shall start reading some of these fics. Tonight maybe. Just spent £8 today at FP on some on-sale old Buffy comic books, and they are such atrocious sludge, when I could have been spending the time reading decent fic for free.

Well-deserved! (wasn't me!)

Hope it will be being nominated in some finished fic categories before long!

There are some awesome fics out there and I'm so happy to see most of my favourites being nominated in one way or another on WKA!

As for WaDaDM reaching the finished stage? Well, it wouldn't be one of my stories if it actually ended would it? *grin*

Thanks for sending part 5 back btw, I'm going over it now (waiting for the rain to ease off a little so I can go to the nephew's 2nd birthday party)

*stern looks* EAT PROPERLY.

Just caught up with WaDaDM, hadn't realised you'd written a fourth chapter. It's still as brilliant as ever.

And to bring you back down to earth I noticed a couple of teeny mistakes in the fourth chapter.

You are part of me, when I thought I’d lost you it was like I’d lost an arm and then there you were and my heart started beating again. That’s when I knew losing you was more like having my heart torn out. We’ve known each other for so long. You’ve seen the worst of me.”
“And the best.” She blushed a little at the soft interruption and continued,
“And you’ve always been there through it all. We’ve faced a lot over the years…” A bright smile suddenly lit up her face. “Xander? We’ve fought a lot of blood-sucking fiends, and that’s all been a good time, but I want more.”

He rocked back on the table; she was echoing his words from so long ago. Somehow he’d thought she would have pushed that part of her life out of her mind as quickly as possible.
She looked directly at him, “I wanna dance with you.”

For the first time in years, he was lost for words. Feeling like an idiot he leaned forward and took her hand, never once dropping his gaze from her incredibly expressive eyes.
“Are you sure?” He waited for her answer with bated breath, but it didn’t come.

The start of the first paragraph shoul have speech marks round it. And bated is actually spelt baited.

Pedantic, moi, never.

Thanks! I'll fix it soon - hopefully, is it in the ff.net or the INAP version? (please say INAP - it's much easier to fix there....)

And thanks to Sam for betaing, part 5 is almost ready to post! yay!
