I've come to the conclusion that whatever the hairdresser did to my hair yesterday she was actually doing it to a wig which she then broke into my house while I was sleeping last night to steal back. My real hair looks nothing like it did yesterday! It's all very strange and kicking out at odd angles and in ways I'd rather it didn't.

Plus, I fell out of my front door yesterday (completely sober) and gashed my chin on the concrete steps outside. So I have a huge elastoplast plaster on my face and hair that will not behave. Plus an entire day's worth of checking links to look forward to.

Joy.

Plus - again with the recommendation hunting - going to the cinema tonight (again) and have no clue what's on. Any must see films out there right now? (That aren't either The Village or Motorcycle Diaries?)

I'm trying not to laugh at the falling out the front door, honestly I am. And GAH with the hair.

Cinema, what about Dodgeball? Or have you already seen that one?

It's not funny - it's two steps down onto concrete and there's a bit of kerbing right at chin level when you fall.

It's sore. (plus, the whole walking round like a sad Nelly fan...)

Not so keen to see Dodgeball anymore, not sure why. Denise suggested "Wicker Park" so that might be a goer.

What about Collateral or Hellboy? Haven't seen either of them but am planning to.

Caught up on your fics posted at INAP when I came home from work last night. :)

[livejournal.com profile] smileawhile actively does not want to see Hellboy at all, not even if I pay her so... Collateral I think she's already seen to be honest. Might ask her.

If you want to go and see Hellboy with someone give me a shout as I don't think my brother will want to go and see it either, even if I pay him.

Collateral looks good, tho. Don't know what else to suggest.

thanks - not sure when I'm going to get to go back to the cinema after this week though. I've been every Tuesday for the past three weeks now and I almost missed the finale of Tru Calling because of it... *g*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 02:31 am (UTC)
'Kay, just thought I'd offer. Haven't really been watching Tru Calling, mainly 'cos I don't finish till ten on a tuesday night, but managed to catch the finale, which was good. Might try and make it a regular thing when it starts it's next season on Sky.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 02:56 am (UTC)
there was a report on Whedonesque the other day saying the next season was going to be held back till Feb. 05 in the States which means it'll be even later starting here.

Sucks doesn't it?
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 02:59 am (UTC)
So it's going to be a mid season start for it. Doesn't look good. I know there's usually some mid season cancellations (Buffy was a mid season replacement, that's why the first season was only 12 episodes), but what happens if all the new shows are hits.

This is why hairdressers are evil!*g* The exact same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago! Left the shop looking almost trendy (and accidentally kind of Willowy what with the layers and the use of straighteners) but as soon as it was washed it reverted to *rsy hair that won't really do what it's supposed to!

The reaction to my haircut has been kind of funny. I used to have it pretty similar to this for about 6 or 7 years, then I got bored/lazy and let it grow and it kind of stayed that way for about 3 years. The people at work have only ever seen me with long hair, so there were lots of 'you've cut your hair' and 'it's a different colour!' comments - with me somehow feeling the need to protest 'it used to be like this!'. Whereas at a wedding I was at last week all of my friends have seen it looking vaguely similar to this at some point or another so it just got a minimalist reaction - which is far less disconcerting!

Beck.

You've cut your hair!!!!!!!! It's a different colour!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, makes you look completely different.

:)

:P !!

Not that different, but maybe it means that the next time I'm confronted by someone doing a survey at the bus station they won't have to ask me my age first to check that I'm over 16!! Since it was a week before my 30th birthday I was actually quite happy about it. (See how things have changed? The last time I was asked if I was over 16 I came out sounding most grumpy - 'I'm 23! How old do you need to be to buy sparklers?'!!)

Beck.

(Oddly, I never got asked my age in pubs or clubs before I hit 18 - only after!)
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:42 am (UTC)
I got asked if I was over 15 when I was 27. Never been asked for ID in a pub or club.

It's funny today getting all the double takes and the "Oh my God!"s, the one negative thing I got was from the bitca boss who actually said "you look even more like a librarian now."

Gee, ta Patsy. Was that meant to be a compliment?!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:36 am (UTC)
Just need the glasses now Sho, just to complete the image.

:)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:37 am (UTC)
... I wear glasses....
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:39 am (UTC)
Do you? Since when?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:50 am (UTC)
Since I was 15.

*g*

They're only for reading and driving but I obviously wear them at work since there's a lot of reading involved.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:53 am (UTC)
Ahhh. Same as me, well, for reading and watching TV, for the past three years.

Andy

You don't look anything like a librarian though! (Well I've not seen you at work, but outside of work you don't!) I'm sure your hair looks great - ignore the annoying woman!

By the way, although I hate Nestle with a firey passion, I saw their new kit kat advert yesterday and thought 'ha, so that's what Sho gets up to on her break!'*g*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:49 am (UTC)
Haven't seen the new advert - what's it like?

(who also hates Nestle but more for the baby milk thing...)

And thanks! I think Patsy was just being a bitch really!
[identity profile] acrazywench.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 03:57 am (UTC)
It's three people in a kitchen making as much noise as possible (banging pots, shouting etc.), then they go back to work....in a library:)

That's my Nestle hating reason too - spent 10 years on a campus where Nestle was (and still is) banned so I just automatically avoid now. (Of course when it comes to the 'formerly known as Rowntree Mackintosh of York' products, whilst I'm doing the avoiding I take the opportunity to get arsy at Maggie as well as Nestle!*g*)

That sounds pretty much like our staff room actually! Hey, is it full of bad Ikea furniture? Maybe it is our staff room!
[identity profile] acrazywench.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 04:12 am (UTC)
It could well be filled with Ikea furniture, just caught it out of the corner of my eye last night so I didn't pay much attention.

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2004 04:27 am (UTC)
I'll need to watch out for it - along with the hidden cameras in the staff room!
