Gah!!!!
So the idiot who publically slammed the White Knight Awards before they even started won runner-up in the angst category.

He emailed me today to demand I remove his award because (and I quote) I'm disgusted right now, utterly horrified, sickened. I've had urges to
hurl, so if it is anyway possible I'd like to withdraw completely. Like I said, I do not want to be associated with something like this.

So the award has been pulled down, all mention of him has been removed from WKA and I'm on the verge of pulling him from INAP as well. The only reason I haven't done the latter is because I think that may be a knee-jerk reaction. If I'm still as pissed off with him in a few hours then he's gone.

Grrr.

Everyone else who's been in touch has been really enthusiastic about the whole thing and then this one prick just pisses me off in an instant.

I'm most sorry for the other people who were nominated in the category who lost out on votes because people were voting for him and not for another, more deserving story.

I've even had other people who are vehemently anti-slash compliment me on the buttons I made them.

Well, when you first mentioned him I thought I'd give his story a chance and folowed the link to it. I couldn't even get through the whole story. I think I read about 20 paragraphs before I gave up. I think his writing really is that bad. And this coming from someone who says all writing is good, just there's some not as good as others. His writing is just bad. I don't know how he got second (Well, I do, but I don't know why people voted for him.) All I can say is that, in my opinion, he must have bribed a lot of people.

Yep
His dialouge is appalling, no people talk like that for one.
[identity profile] kaz814.livejournal.com on October 17th, 2004 06:36 pm (UTC)
That sounds VERY familiar ... I had someone last year who did the same thing. *hugs* sorry hon. :(
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 17th, 2004 06:38 pm (UTC)
Thanks Kaz - I have a horrible feeling it might actually be the same person. I remember the stramash that happened last year with people getting so uptight about the splash screen you had as well - it was just... pathetic.

And I've got to say, verging on the homophobic on their part.

*sigh*
[identity profile] kaz814.livejournal.com on October 17th, 2004 06:48 pm (UTC)
Oh no it wasn't verging last year -- there was the stink about the Best Characterization being won by a slash fic - how there is no WAY Xander was gay ... blah blah blah.

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 05:31 am (UTC)
I totally get why some people don't accept slash at all, and that's fine with me - they have free will, if they don't want to read it they don't have to.

This guy is just beyond the pail though, he's getting quite militant in his emails and if I were gay or a slash writer then I would actually feel personally threatened from some of the things he's said.

He's just got the honour of being the first person ever to go onto my blocked email list. I never block emails - I just delete spam as it arrives.
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on October 17th, 2004 06:43 pm (UTC)
Bloody hell, what a moron. I hope you've not let him get to you too much, because someone like that is not worth taking notice of.

I wish I'd had time so far to read more of the WKA fics, and I still hope to get round to some more of them, but the work you've put together on this is fantastic.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 05:32 am (UTC)
Thanks Sam - every single one of the winners is well worth a read, as are a lot (if not all) of the nominees.

I can say this now the one guy who had me scratching my head as to why he was even listed has been removed.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on October 17th, 2004 07:44 pm (UTC)
I know who you're writing about
We discussed him off-list. You know how I feel about slash, it has no interest to me, but people should be allowed to write what the hell they like.

And that horse's ass has no right to complain as his biggest story features a ten year old Faith being raped by her father.

What's more objectionable? Child rape or slash?

I know where I'm going.

He's a dickhead. Ban the horse's ass.

Re: I know who you're writing about
How satisfied was I when I hit 'OK' on the "are you sure you want to delete this author?" page on INAP last night?

He's gone, may he never darken my door again!

Re: I know who you're writing about
Whoo!

Now if only the arrogant buffon wasn't in some of the yahoo groups I inhabit.

At least he's on the Mithras banned list.

Grins in satisfaction.

What a CREEP! Who is so I can avoid his stories in the future? I think he's a worthless piece of garbage for treating you in such a shabby fashion!

He kept emailing me last night as well - basically calling me a liar.

He said I told him there was no way a slash story would ever be nominated in anything like a best characterisation category because by definition slash is out of character.

His opinion that somehow he transferred onto my attempt to be diplomatic to him.

I wasn't going to share his name since it could just have been my opinion of him that was colouring my view. However, since he's made personal attacks against me and made me feel actually threatened last night I will tell you who he is.

3D Master. Avoid his stories like the plague - they're archived on Xander Zone and at his own site. I deleted his account from INAP last night.
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 06:05 am (UTC)
I am stunned that you were subjected to personal attacks so vitriolic as to leave you feeling actually THREATENED! This man has serious and profound issues that he deeply needs to address! It is so wrong that he has chosen to focus his psychotic rage on you! Homophobia seems to be a symptom of some deep-seated psychoses! Thank you for sharing his name so that I can avoid scarring my retinas and damaging my brain by subjecting myself to his writings!

You're welcome, most of the time I just tune people like him out - he's really not worth the time and energy it takes to respond because he's so set in his ways that he will never accept any view point other than his own incredibly narrow one.

I don't agree with him, I never will, and yet there's a huge part of me that would applaud him for standing up for his convictions if it wasn't so blatantly obvious to me that the reason he's complaining is because of sour grapes. He was nominated in a lot of categories and only got runner-up in one of those. That seems to be the underlying problem here - he didn't win so he wants nothing to do with it.

He objected to my wording on the page after I took his award down. I said it because he "couldn't make up his mind" which is exactly how it looks to me. He didn't want to accept nominations until I pointed out he hadn't even looked at the site and that the categories he was complaining weren't there were actually there. Then he badmouths the site on a couple of yahoo groups, when I responded to him there he quickly took it off-list so only he and I saw how much of an ass he was about it.

Now with the winners announced he's throwing a hissy fit again.

Stupid, small-minded, petulant, arrogant, threatening little freak.

I was on YIM last night when the email I felt threatened by arrived, [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan, [livejournal.com profile] rileysaplank and [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile all got the brunt of how shocked I was and how upset. I was actually in tears.

I've now decided that even though I would support to the death his right to have his opinion, I no longer want to know anything about it.

now that's what you call a back-handed compliment.

(withdraws the hug.... *grin*)

He seems like a complete wacko! And for someone who calles himself 3D Master, he seems rather ONE-dimansional to me! Popping out of the puzzle without a clue as to what he's talking about and libeling the WKA without the slightest provocation (or any idea about the veracity of his complaints) are definitely not the actions of someone any sane human being wants to interact with! I am so sorry you were subjected to him!

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 05:31 pm (UTC)
He's now claiming on one of the Yahoo Groups that he has no problem with slash stories, which is not what he said to me but since that was a personal email I'll let it slide.

He's also persisting on calling me a liar.

The rest of this I could deal with and laugh off, but I will not tolerate being called a liar.

However, I've just replied to him on the group, in what I hope comes across as a balanced, thought-out and non-confrontational answer. And I've told him I'm done, and I am. If he replies, which he probably will, I'll let him have the last word, I don't care enough about his opinion to think about him any longer.

Give him a week and he'll find another target to attack - whoever that is, they have my sympathies and probably my support.
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 05:48 pm (UTC)
I know exactly what you mean! You can call me anything but a liar! I just hope this creep gives up and leaves you (and everyone else) alone from now on! Perhaps he could take up knitting, or commemorative spoon collecting, and leave the internet behind entirely!!!

Banners
I just took a closer look at the banners you made for the awards (I'd just glanced at them before), and that's some really good work you did there. I especially like how you customized the banners in the "General" category to go with the stories that won. Nice touch.

Oh, and don't worry too much about this guy. You can't ever please everyone - plenty of people really appreciate the work you've done on the awards. Thanks!
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 05:40 am (UTC)
Re: Banners
Thank you! I really did try to customise them as far as possible, especially the general categories. I'm not the best person at leaving feedback for writers so this is my way of saying how much I appreciate the stories and the time taken in writing them.

Thanks again!
[identity profile] acrazywench.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 09:23 am (UTC)
Re: Banners
Sho, you've put so much hard work into the site and the awards - don't let one little sh*te spoil it. Even peeps like me who don't write fanfic appreciate all the time and effort you put into INAP and WKA. Hope he gets the message and doesn't bother you any more.

Beck.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 09:28 am (UTC)
Re: Banners
Thanks Beck - I think the little prick caught me at the worst possible time yesterday. Since I announced the winners on Friday I've had so much positive feedback, and even the comments not directed at me - the "Woo hoo I won!" comments on Yahoo Groups - just give me a warm glowy feeling.

And then this prick just brought it all crashing down.

I was very upset last night, in tears at one point, and had to postpone finishing a scene on EOD because my hands were shaking too much to type. I'm better now, seeing all the support everyone here's given has just made me realise how inane this guy really is; and how not worth it he is.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on October 18th, 2004 09:48 am (UTC)
Re: Banners
Knowing how much work you put into the buttons, especially HIS button, and the work that you've done with the WKA in general, I'm still really PISSED OFF at this guy.

The fact that he made his attacks personal last night shows just how petty he was being. I'm sure if he'd won and a slash story had been runner-up he wouldn't have complained thast he didn't want to be associated with Slash.

You'd think he'd be a little more gracious considering that Lizbeth IS one of the best Xander writers out there and just shut the fuck up, and then piss off back to the rock he crawled out from under.
