WKA, once more.
The guy has been in contact with me privately to explain his position. He has a valid point to make and on a very broad view I tend to agree with him - the apparent canonisation of Spike in season seven, the chipping away of Buffy’s character to the point where she became little more than a parody of the feminist icon some people see her as - but that's only in the very broad view.

He misunderstood what I told him back in August about what stories could and couldn't be nominated in each category. As a result of that misunderstanding he accepted the nominations believing certain things would be disallowed.

When he found out that didn't happen, he automatically assumed I lied to him in August and attacked. I was very upset by that attack - I did feel threatened by the end of Sunday evening - and retaliated in perhaps not the most politic of ways.

There is blame on both sides, I should have perhaps made the rules clearer in August and he shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. I know for sure that neither of us should have reacted in anger the way we did.

He has strongly held beliefs that he will not compromise, as is his right. He feels that having his story win an award on a site where a story which went against his beliefs also won was an affront to him. As is his right.

I’ve changed the wording of the explanation on WKA to reflect this and I really hope this will be an end to it all.

Sho. You're too nice for your own good. Even if he did misunderstand what you told him it isn't his right to then personally attack you and threaten you in the way that you felt you were being on Sunday.

Don't feel guilty about what you did, or the way that you worded his rejection of his award from WKA.

On his site he blasts rapists from all angles, yet he has no links to any helpful websites for victims of rape, no links to information on how to deal with the effects of rape. So although he is quite content to mouth off about how bad rapists are, he apparently has intention of ever offering to help anybody that has been a victim of it. So just how strongly held are his beliefs, or is he just mouthing off on the subject because he didn't like how S7 of Buffy went.

I don't know what his personal circumstances are, nor do I really want to. For all I know he may work in a rape crisis centre.

That said, I take your point, if he feels so strongly about it then perhaps he would be expected to back up his beliefs somehow.

Whatever.

Barring a response from him, I'm done with it. I had planned to get some writing done last night but got caught up in another argument/discussion with him. I won't let him affect me any more.

Plus, how did he know that 'Living History' was Spike/Xander? The Button has just Xander on it. That means he must have read the story. So again, how deeply held are his convictions?

Living History isn't Spike/Xander, as Liz is fond of reminding a certain person on the XZ list - it's not a shipper story.

His complaint was about the runner-up in that category "Shacking Up" by Entrenous, and the winner in the angst category "Hunt-Brother" by LazuliKat

On a lighter note, guess which website link comes up first when I search for the words Xander Zone through my Yahoo homepage.

YAY! Although it's got to be said, that the Xander Zone (http://www.grandt.com/XanderZone) site itself is a bloody good site for what it houses.

The work that's gone into that archive is all the more inspiring when you realise it's all coded by hand, by one guy.

Is that the Xander Zone that wont accept m/m stories but will accept f/f stories? Might be a great site Sho, but I wouldn't archive on it simply because of that.

They make no claim otherwise though. They have a clearly defined mission statement and they stick to it.

I have no problem with the site at all - in fact I greatly admire Ashbjoern for the work he does on it.

Plus, I'm archived there. *grin*

Xzone
Website's great and Gradnt's done a hell of a job on it. The group though is a mess of egos and flame wars.

Re: Xzone
Yeah, the group itself isn't the best organised. Especially since the moderator is one of the worst for getting into flame wars.

The site is still incredibly impressive though
