I'm surprised it took this long actually
I now really, really dislike my job. When I first moved over to this role in... what was it? August? I really enjoyed it - there was something new every day. Each day was varied and the amount of work to be done meant that I never had a minute of boredom.

Now? I've just spent the past week looking for broken links on our catalogue and trying to find the proper link.

That's it.

Grunt work.

Boring as hell and irritating to boot.

There's no real need to have a grade 3 do this work, it could easily be split over a couple of grade 2s for half of their time. Absolutely nothing I'm doing right now deserves to have grade 3 status.

I'm bored. Constantly.

I want to be back in customer service, I want to be on the enquiries desk again - I was bloody good there! There were times when that job was boring, when there was nothing much to do, but there was always some way to keep ourselves amused - we found things to do. There's no chance of that though, even if a position did come up it would be at grade 2 level and it's one of the most coveted roles in the library - although oddly enough, most people don't stay there for long.

I really, really need to find a new job. Something that I actually enjoy doing maybe!

I hear there's a position becoming available as of next Friday. Unfortunately it's a short term contract and more of an internship than a paid position, but it would be a thoroughly enjoyable and challenging role with perks expected. Applications for the post of 'official stalker to Christian Kane' should be sent directly to CK's management by 28th October. Interviews will be held on the 29th and the successful applicant should expect to take up their post immediately.*bg*

(Sorry your job has become dull, Sho. Hopefully you'll find something exciting soon.)

This official stalker job does sound intriguing...

*grin*

You were really hyped that you were moving from your old job as well. :(

Maybe you should become a web designer. Hehehehehehehe
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:19 pm (UTC)
Grrrr.

Know anyone who's willing to pay me to design their site for them?
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:21 pm (UTC)
If I had any spare money I'd pay you. :)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:22 pm (UTC)
enough to quit my job?

How's your site going by the way?
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:24 pm (UTC)
To the first question, if I had the money - Yes.

To the second question - Like I've really had time to think about that.

If you want any help with the site, let me know. I know I've already told you that but I can do you a basic design that you can play about with to your heart's content if you like.

No charge *grin*

Thanks, but no. I don't want you taking on too much and getting sick again. I will find time it's just a matter of me getting off my arse and actually organising myself.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:31 pm (UTC)
If you're sure, web design doesn't make me sick, it's all the admin crap with counting votes and the like that does that...

*grin*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 02:36 pm (UTC)
So who are you gonna rope in to do all the admin stuff for the next WKA?

And still no. If I don't do it myself I'll never have the confidence to be able to do anything with it.

Sharon. She'll love doing it.

CK as Riley
OH MY GOD. I've just discovered this bit of trivia, that Christian Kane originally auditioned for the role of Riley Finn. How different would things have turned out if he'd got the part.

Re: CK as Riley
Sho knows this already, and you probably do too Andy, but another wierd one: Nathan Fillion auditioned for the part of Angel.

So, an alternative Buffy/Angel cast line line up going by some of the auditions could have been:

Charisma Carpenter – Buffy
Nathan Fillion – Angel
Riff Reagan – Willow
Sarah Michelle Geller – Cordelia Chase
Christian Kane – Riley Finn
Jenny Mollen – Eve

There are bound to be others, but I can't think of them at the mo.

Re: CK as Riley
Also, originally it was going to be Whistler that was Angel's demon companion at the start of the series rather than Doyle but Max Perlich couldn't commit to the series.

Re: CK as Riley
Bianca Lawson (Kendra) was actually cast as Cordy put had prior commitments.

Mercedes McNab (Harmony) and Elizabeth Ann Allen (Amy) tried out for Buffy.

Re: CK as Riley
Just think, if that had happened, no way Spuffy would have happened! My theory always was that the idea of Riley was fine, just given the short shift by awful performances by MB. That wouldn't have been a problem with CK.

Re: CK as Riley
LOL! Yeah, you might have hit the nail on the head there!

Re: CK as Riley
Well hardly surprsing, I am a genius after all. Winks.

Same deal with Wood IMO, the idea of a son of A slayer was a good one (I hear there's a great fic going around about the kids of Faith (self-promotion)), it's just the actor they hired was devoid of talent and personality. Although the scripts were even worse than in S4.

Re: CK as Riley
I really wish I could remember where I read this but it was really recent. Someone suggested that if you split Xander into two (a la Replacement) and had neither of them look like Nick Brendon and you would have the basic parts of Andrew and Robin.

Kinda.

*grin*

Re: CK as Riley
I said something similar about Andrew getting Xander's comedy stuff and Wood getting his heroic scenes.

Gack. Did anything ever come of that business loan quest? Is having another go at that still an option?

And I seem to be replying as [livejournal.com profile] angel_eod again, despite the fact that I was viewing [livejournal.com profile] smhwpf's friendslist, and I thought that was how I was logged on. Oh well.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2004 03:56 pm (UTC)
That happened to me Yesterday Sam, I was logged on as rileysaplank yet when I went to reply to one of Sho's comments it kept on saying I was logged in as [livejournal.com profile] lindsey_eod

I didn't really get any further than getting the information to be honest. The new job did look as though it was going to be a good move but unfortunately it's not worked out that way.

I guess I really should buckle down and get a business plan done.
