Lyrics meme
Seen this in a few places on my flist but [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn is the one I'm doing the copy/paste thing from so...

*g*

1. Open your MP3 software (Winamp, iTunes, whatever) and set your playlist to shuffle.
2. Record a lyric or two from each song you come to, and post them. I'm only doing 20 because while I have lots of tracks I only have a few artists. *shrug*
3. Those reading this post: see if you can guess what the songs are, and comment with your guesses.

1. To think I might not see those eyes/Makes it so hard not to cry

2.
I just can’t get the hang of hanging on/Everytime I try to grab it the will is gone

3. And it feels like a dirty dream/Like I’m walking to the guillotine

4. Constantly searching to find something new/But what will you find when you think that nothing’s true? - American English, Idelwild - guessed by an anonymous poster

5.
Lie awake drinking late is all that’s left to do/Not a sound but the rain on the pale blue roof

6.
Sleep in peace when day is done/And this old world is a new world/And a bold world/For me

7.
And he must confess/All the impure thoughts of his beautiful temptress

8.
I tried to kill the pain/But only brought more - Tourniquet, Evanescene - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] invisionary

9. You look like an angel/Your skin makes me cry - Creep, Radiohead - guessed by Michelle on the BBB

10. Twenty-four little hours/Brought the sun and the flowers/Where there used to be rain - What A Difference A Day Makes, Jamie Cullum - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] willowmina

11. The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in/Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin London Calling, The Clash - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip

12. You got wings/But you can’t fly/You got so much pain inside - Very Kind, Will Young - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile

13. We’re so creative, so much more/We’re high above but on the floor - Not An Addict, K's Choice - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ludditerobot

14. Told what to do, miming to a tape/While a team of experts make sure you’re looking great

15.
You drain me dry and make me wonder why I’m even here

16.
I was thinking ‘bout the time, when we were young/Swimming against the tide/Was I blind, ‘cause all I saw/Was the future in your eyes

17.
you don’t have to say, what you did/I already know, I found out from him

18.
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes/I have to turn my head until my darkness goes - Paint It Black, Rolling Stones - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] aaronlisa

19. Never has there been an evening like…/This is what they wanted/Always to feel hunted

20.
I’ve got this feeling/That there’s something that I’ve missed/Don’t you breathe

Edited to add - I'm going to mark the ones people guess off so you can't cheat... *grin*

#18 is Paint it Black. However I don't know which band since it's been covered quite a few times. I am going to go with either Rolling Stones or Tea Party.

I actually have two versions on my player - this one was the Stones (the other is actually Vanessa Carlton of all people!)

The Vanessa Carlton one sounds like it might be interesting.

*grin*

sorry, took me ages to convert it to MP3 there - I had it in WMA format.

here you go! (http://s7.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=C9D2A2BA8B6F6FF366F4E0579BB121E4)

Yup. And also the song where "Crimson Regret" comes from. *grin*
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on December 14th, 2004 07:48 pm (UTC)
#10 is What a Difference a Day Makes, although I can't remember the artist *Doh*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 14th, 2004 07:49 pm (UTC)
LOL - I'll give you it 'cause it's actually Jamie Cullum's version I have on this machine but there's been lots of recordings of it.
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on December 14th, 2004 07:51 pm (UTC)
Well, you did just say the song, you didn't specify you wanted an artist. Good job really as I didn't know he'd done one.

You know he's on Jool's Hootenanny (that word always makes me think of Oz) on New Years Eve, don't you?

*jawdrop* No! I didn't know that - cool! I tend to watch Jools anyway, that will be so cool to see he and Jamie on the same show!

And yup, he did a damn good version of it - here you go! (http://s15.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3203EF5B89109C5D4F09F7259C9F1FD7)

Thanks, I'll have a listen when the boiler isn't making a racket next to the computer desk! 'Tis very annoying.

Ah well, must go and write a Secret Santa Fic I guess.

13: K's Choice, "Not An Addict"
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 14th, 2004 08:32 pm (UTC)
*grin* - yup, and it still gets played a helluva lot!
[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 09:55 am (UTC)
12. Will Young - Free (I think...def a Will Young song though)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 09:55 am (UTC)
'tis indeed Will Young, but you're wrong about the song.

How could you, the pop tart, not get it?

*grin*
[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 10:14 am (UTC)
Ahhh, OK my powers are slipping... could it be 'Very Kind' then?

:)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 10:16 am (UTC)
Your brain is too addled with the Wets right now, I was tempted to put in one of their lyrics but I don't have any of the songs on my playlist.

Yep, Very Kind it is.

There's another poptart one in there that you might just get...
[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 10:33 am (UTC)
My brain is just plain addled....... I think I know which one you mean, but I can't remeber who or what it is... LOL

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 10:54 am (UTC)
Number 17.

The one I can't believe I have on my machine.

And you of all people should get 16 as well...

*grin*

Gabrielle
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 04:09 pm (UTC)
Yay! I was so shocked that no one seemed to know that one! Kudos!
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 04:11 pm (UTC)
Thanks! It's one of my favorite songs!

Gabrielle
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 04:16 pm (UTC)
I love that song as well - so great! Although, The Calling do a really dodgy version of it which makes it all country & western. *shudder* Almost enough to make me dislike the original! (Almost, but not quite!)
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on December 15th, 2004 05:02 pm (UTC)
OH GOD!!! That's as bad as when Celine Dion performed You Shook Me All Night Long!!! Turning London Calling into C/W???? What were they SMOKING????

Number 9 is Creep by Radiohead, but I have to thank Michelle over at the BBB for getting that one yesterday, so the credit should really go to her.
