*hugs*
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I woke up this morning to see my name all over my flist - almost enough to make a girl paranoid... *grin*

No plans for a big party or anything otherwise you'd all be invited! Meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile this afternoon for a teeny bit of shopping (although I haven't told her that part yet....*grin*) dinner, then a 'blast-from-the-past' gig.

Yup, tonight I am going to see Deacon Blue - yay!

Thank you!

And the same day as my future wife!

Get anything good from that sister you're always cursing? A toy-boy who can't escape your advances maybe?

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:13 am (UTC)
LOL, yeah 'sjust a shame Ms Dushku is so much younger, it's a cause of jealousy.

Haven't heard from sister for a couple of days, she cunningly nipped back into Tesco's while I was loading the car with her groceries because she 'forgot to buy envelopes'. So it looks like I'm getting some envelopes from her... *g*

*lets a little bitterness through* since she didn't get me a card for my 21st I'm not expecting much, if anything.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:16 am (UTC)
You women and your cattiness....

Didn't get you a card for your 21st? Man, that's cold. My little bro saved up for a month for my 21st present..

I remember me and him going to see the Blues Brothers in concert for his... Man, what a night!
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:18 am (UTC)
Blues Brothers - now that must have been so cool!

Coincidentally, that's my sister's favourite film. How's that for coincidence?
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:20 am (UTC)
It's one hell of film, even better live though...

Man, the music.

So your sister doesn't only have good taste in sisters then, it extends to films too..

Damn, I'm suave....
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:21 am (UTC)
Nice!

Shame you ruined it with that little comment at the end there...
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:23 am (UTC)
I take back that happy birthday now.

Sobs quietly to himself.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:23 am (UTC)
Awww

*pats you on the sholder in a Giles-like fashion*

"there there"
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:24 am (UTC)
see, that's how distracted I am - Shoulder, not Sholder....

I take back that happy birthday now.

Sobs quietly to himself.

BUT she's Scottish!

I'll be disowned. The family shame.

Sho's worth it.

Now there's a back-handed compliment!
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:28 am (UTC)
HA!

Damned Sassenach's and their back-handed compliments!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:05 am (UTC)
Yay, Deacon Blue. WoooooHOoooooo.

There is a card from me on the way as well. Don't think it'll be there for today, but it is on it's way.

Happy Birthday.

*starts singing off-key and very loudly*

"And I'll sail her up the West Coast
Through villages and towns
I'll be on my holidays
They'll be doing the rounds
They'll ask me how I got her
I'll say 'I saved my money'"

*grins and knows that if she does that tonight, she's likely to be thrown out...*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:15 am (UTC)
*grins as he joins you in the off key singing*

Have a great day Sho.

*Hugs and kisses*

Thank you again!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:25 am (UTC)
*smiles*

You deserve a great day. And topped off with Deacon Blue. That'll be so cool.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:27 am (UTC)
should be very cool, saw them in August I think it was, at a charity fundraiser gig - it was only a mini-set from them but it was still damn good!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:29 am (UTC)
Yeah. They're one of the few 'pop' groups I'll actually admit to liking. You'll even occasionally hear me gasping "Oh they're brilliant." if somebody mentions them.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:33 am (UTC)
I remember seeing them in Irvine at the Magnum centre with [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile and Nicky (a friend from Uni) and Ricky announced on stage that this was going to be their last tour. The next day the three of us walked straight into Virgin records and bought tickets for what was supposed to be their last show. Now that was a gig to remember - at the Barrowlands (any gig there's bound to be great) and everyone so up for a good time.

Course, since then they've had more come-backs than the Stones but hey, they're still really good!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:36 am (UTC)
I've never been to a gig at the Barrowlands (Not having lived p here for quite a while hasn't helped.) and now the bands I'm into aren't 'big' enough to play the Barrowlands, so I'll just have to be content seeing them at King Tuts.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:40 am (UTC)
King Tuts is a good venue as well, much more intimate and I know a few of the staff so...

With the Carling Academy opening up the Barra's is kind of becoming second choice for gigs, which is a shame in a way, but the Barra's wasn't really meant to be a gig venue - I still remember my parents talking about 'the dancing' at the Barras from the 50s and 60s. So maybe the Academy will be just as good. (I've not been yet - but I will have after tonight!)
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:43 am (UTC)
I prefer smaller venues, being honest. It's just everyone talks about the Barra's up here as though it is a really good venue. It'd be nice to see what all the fuss is about.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:46 am (UTC)
the kitch factor. The stars on the ceiling, the glitter-balls on the ceiling, the history.

It's not a big venue in comparison to a lot of places - I doubt you could get more than five thousand people in there and even that would be really tight.

if you get the chance, you should go to a gig there - preferably with a good band, but it's the kind of place that (so long as the audience is up for it) can make anyone look good.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 30th, 2004 02:49 am (UTC)
One of the best gigs I went to was when I was studying ing Southampton. An Alice Cooper gig. The civic hall there was used for gigs, and only had a capacity of 1500. But a lot of big stars played there, so you got a very intimate gig with 'big' stars, and the atmosphere was great.

I guess I'll just have to send you belated birthday wishes Sho. I've not been online, between tending to both Ben and me. But hope you had a good day.

Jackie
