Happy Hogmanay!
so the subject says it all, but I'll repeat it anyway:

Happy Hogmanay!!

so who's up for a rousing rendition of the time-honoured classic that everyone gets wrong? If you're planning on singing it tonight (in a drunken manner or otherwise) feel free to use the following as a song sheet!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o'kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
repeat chorus

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary fit,
Sin' auld lang syne.
repeat chorus

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.
repeat chorus

And there's a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
repeat chorus to fade...

I'll join you in that rendition.

*starts singing off-key*

Hope you had a great day yesterday and didn't do anything too embarissing.

see, I'd love to sing along, but there's a distinctly frog-like quality to my voice right now. Too much singing last night. Ah well.

(gig was fantastic btw!)

see, this was the icon I meant to use!

Just as I'd replied to the now deleted post.

Ahh well. Glad you enjoyed the gig.

*grin*

not hungover, just getting to old to mosh.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:10 am (UTC)
But old enough not to care that you're getting too old.

*grins*

Any plans for tonight apart from recovering from yesterday?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:11 am (UTC)
recovering from yesterday pretty much covers it.

Oh and giving me something to recover from tomorrow might feature as well...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:13 am (UTC)
Hehehehehe. Might join you there? But while staying in the comfort of my own house, watching Jools Hollands Hootenanny. If I remember rightly Jamie Callum's on tonight.

apparently he is, and bizarrely enough it's starting at midnight this year - used to start at 2 or 3 am.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:20 am (UTC)
Errr, ten past eleven it's starting Sho, not midnight. Is this like the time you told me that L.A confidential was going to be on TV over the next couple of weeks when it had actually been shoen the previous Sunday?

*grins*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:21 am (UTC)
okay, so I told you I was tired didn't I?

And the LA Confidential thing, all I saw was a trailer for the upcoming films on BBC2 - blame them, not me.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:23 am (UTC)
Okay, I'll blame BBC2 and their 'not ads' for LA Confidential.

And *hugs* for tiredness, and you probably won't get an early night tonight either.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:24 am (UTC)
since my neighbours have a stupid fascination for fireworks, chances are next to zero I'll get any sleep tonight...

*sigh*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:26 am (UTC)
And Dram'll be going all scatty as well. Poor Dram.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:28 am (UTC)
yeah, that's why no sleep for me.

Ah well, more time to play with gadgets!!!

(got a new phone for my birthday, shiny!)

Oh - and thank you for the card! (and [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench thank you as well!) They both arrived this morning.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on December 31st, 2004 10:30 am (UTC)
Yeah, forgot about it being Public Holidays on Monday and Tuesday or it would have arrived on time.

*gives Dram a pet, hoping the fireworks aren't that bad*

I love the middle verses of that song, so poignant. 'But seas between us braid have roared'! Waah! Shame no-one ever sings them! And the last verse doesn't really make sense without them.

Should auld fandoms be forgot?

Never!
