dammit!
so as well as not having slept much last night, I also didn't eat breakfast (big surprise there), got stuck in a two hour traffic jam, and forgot my glasses (again)

My head still throbs from where I hit it off the car door and now my eyes are burning. AC and a portable heater do not make for a good combination either so my eyes, already strained, are getting really dry. (the heater's not at my desk, I just get blasted by it now and then)

Plus, I know that despite the fact the download should theoretically be done by the time I get home, it's going to have been stopped by my stupid firewall (which really isn't stupid, it's just annoying sometimes) so I'll have to get it going again.

*sigh*

Still, shiny new icon made by [livejournal.com profile] blackicons so there are some things to smile about!

(of course the fact that LJ now doesn't want to let me post this isn't helping matters.)

Here, I'll cheer you up with a fable.

Once upon a time there was a bear. Which is really not all that interesting, because once upon a time there have been a lot of bears. It's kind of like saying, "At one point in time there were some animals."

So anyway, this bear, his name was Dozer Bear. Only it was pronounced, "GRAARGARH!" in bear-speak. I'm translating for the sake of the story.

Dozer bear loved to doze. He did it quite often. Sometimes he dozed in the sun, sometimes by the river, and even once or twice he dozed right in the middle of eating a nice piece of fish. In fact, the only place he didn't doze was in his cave, because of course it's impossible to doze in the same place you sleep.

Which was precisely the argument he was making to his friend Chirpy Bird. Chirpy Bird was a bird with a yellow beak and brown feathers, and he claimed that Dozer Bear dozed so much that he'd dozed right through winter.

"It's called hibernation," Dozer Bear would have said, if he had the power of speech, which, as a bear, he did not. Use your imagination.

"Chirpity chirp chirp chirp," Chirpy Bird replied, which Dozer Bear took to mean, "What a load of rubbish! You were dozing."

"I'll doze you!" Dozer Bear roared, swiping at Chirpy Bird. Chirpy Bird fluttered out of the way, and squawked angrily at Dozer Bear before flying away.

The moral of the story is: Don't talk to birds!

No wait, I think the moral of the story is: Those who doze are not good with prose.

No that's not it either. That's just an excuse to rhyme. And really, isn't that the greatest lesson of all?

*giggles*

okay, I think the moral of the story is this: Sho really shouldn't read her LJ at her desk when she's meant to be working, there's only so many times a cough will hide laughter.

Just a quick question, what song do those lyrics come from?

I've been trying to find it for a couple of months now and not had any luck.

you're welcome!

Damnit. That's not the song I'm looking for. I think the lyric is Did you find yourself somewhere out there? Rather then Did you lose yourself somewhere out there.

Thanks anyway.

Drops of Jupiter by Train

I got the two confused for ages as well

*hugs and more hugs*

*Big loopy grin*

Thankyou so much, it's been bugging me for months since I heard it on the radio going into work one day but missed the song and band name.

I love the song muchly - unfortunately the very start of the video looks the same as the start to Coldplay's Clocks so I keep thinking it's going to be on the music channels when in reality they're just playing the most over-rated song Coldplay ever did.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on January 6th, 2005 06:38 am (UTC)
Well, just from the way it sounded, I thought it could be a Stereophonics song (Remember me sending you the 'As Long as we beat the English' lyrics - That's how long I've been looking for this song for.) I never even thought of it being Train.

it does have a bit of a 'Phonics-like edge to it I guess. Speaking of, their new single Dakota was played on Radio 1 yesterday and apparently it was "the first you'll ever have heard this song!" Unless you're on the 'Phonics mailing list in which case you'll have gotten a link to it on Monday night and may well have been listening to it non-stop since then...

*grin*

Yeah, tuned into Radio 1 about ten minutes after it'd been played, typical of my luck. They've got a new album coming out in the next couple of months as well haven't they?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 6th, 2005 06:55 am (UTC)
they have indeed, I forget what it's called right now but if the single's anything to go by then they're back to Perfomance & Cocktails levels right now. (after the weirdness that was "You've gotta go there to come back" and J.E.E.P. which I like but a lot of people really don't)
