new interim banner
I was playing about with ideas for INAP and wanted to do a 'Changing Man' option for the layout. The fact that I have a pounding headache right now means I'm not that up to sitting in front of Photoshop for long. The banner on my journal is along the lines of what I was planning but it didn't come out all that well. Still, I thought I'd throw it up here to see how it looks.

Will do more tomorrow, off to write today (and watch Angel s3)

How's this for encouragement?
Someone's got some more nominations for INAP!

In theory, god knows if these nomination forms work...

Gah.

And as for Angel. Every time I watch it, I become more and more convinced David Greenwhalt is the one behind Buffy's success. When he was there it rocked (1 - 3), afterwards it stunk, and Angel was superb.

Angel's worst season? S5 after he'd left. Who was in charge? Marti and Joss.

Your honour, my case rests.

Re: How's this for encouragement?
I kind of agree, Angel s1 is my favourite of the five. 5 (with the sole exception of having Chris Kane back) is my least favourite. A lot of the darkness seems to be lost by the end of the show and it did feel like they were marking time.

Season five took two of the most interesting characters and did stupid things with them. Gunn. What was that all about?

And Wesley, poor Wes. I actually like what they did with him in season five, but he was the sole bright point - if driving him into insanity can be called a bright point - the rest of the show kinda sucked by that point.

And thanks for the nominations!

Re: How's this for encouragement?
Angel s1 is my favourite of the five.

My fav has to Be S4 - The Beast was the scariest demon ever, Skip was great, Angelus was IMO better used on Angel (he kinda reminded me of Hanibal Lectar the way he manipulated everyone while stuck in the cage), and Faith's run was far superior to her return to S7 (especially her chemistary with tortured Wes, and yes I meant emotionally, not the way you think). About the only ep I didn't like was the memory ep, oh and the final one because taking over W&H didn't make sense.

I liked Fred as Illyria in S5, added depth.

The nominations? No problem.

I hate sites where people have no idea of HCI. Ugh.

Re: How's this for encouragement?
See, I really don't like the Jasmine storyline at all so my view of S4 is pretty coloured by that.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:23 am (UTC)
Re: How's this for encouragement?
Ah, I liked Jasmine. I get why people didn't like it, but I didn't have the problem with the whole Cordy going bad storyline. I had a problem with the apparent motivation (punish Chrasima for daring not to be a stick insect), but not how it was executed.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:27 am (UTC)
Re: How's this for encouragement?
the Cordy going bad I could deal with, it was the wole 'thrall' thing that Jasmine had going that bugged me. And it wasn't really a shock to me that Connor saw her for what she was right from the start. *shrug*

I actually made an icon for a contest community once, the theme for the week was 'Beauty' and I went with the Jasmine route:

It didn't win. I think a soft focus Spuffy one won that week....

Re: How's this for encouragement?
You like your icons don't cha? Gotta say, I'm not surprised it didn't win. Technically it's great, as well-designed as your ones usually are. But there's no way I'd want it staring down at me while I was scrolling LJ. Shudders.

So here's the question, who's worse Jasmine, ADAM, or the First?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:32 am (UTC)
Re: How's this for encouragement?
worse as in most evil? Got to be the First, or it should have been.

Worse as in lamest? ADAM.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:34 am (UTC)
Re: How's this for encouragement?
I meant worst in lamest, I'd have to go with ADAM too. I'm defnitely going with ADAM being at the head of an army of demon-hybrids in Faith (there's a spoiler).

Although after this week I wonder if that story will go much further.

Re: How's this for encouragement?
Don't let the nay-sayers get you down, the story is great and if one or two people don't get that, then it's their problem.

Re: How's this for encouragement?
Explaining the same point to the same person again and again is like hitting one's head against a brick wall.

Still after my spoof he's promised not to review me again.

Hooray!

The banner looks pretty nice.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:24 am (UTC)
thanks - I like the colouring but the blending needs a lot of work and the font isn't the best.

Then again, I'm never really happy with any of the banners I make. *grin*
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:32 am (UTC)
WOW!
I wish I could do banners like that.

Jealously pulls at Sho's pig-tails before running off.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:34 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
*ouch!*

(remembers she doesn't have pig tails and takes back the ouch)

Just takes practice really, and having no life. :)

Re: WOW!
I hear you.

Still, very good.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:39 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
And in the pic that I assume is the S1 one, NB looks like 15 (a woman of your age having naughty thoughts about a boy, deplorable). Hard to believe he was 25 at the time. Although he aged badly as the show went on.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:42 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
are you implying I'm a cradle-snatcher? *grin*

There was a time (seasons five and six mostly) where he didn't look good, although looking back on the Hells Bells fiasco I'm starting to see people's point where they say he was actually wearing a fat suit, there's carrying extra weight then there's looking like one of those stupid Sumo wrestler costumes.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:44 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
Actually, not implying, saying (you don't spill on me, I won't spill on you, dealio?).

Oh yeah, when he was walking through the rain in his tux, I'm yelling 'wide-load coming!'.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:52 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
Well I am younger than him so it doesn't really count as cradle snatching just cause he looked younger...

*grin*

that tux was just really badly fitted, which may have been deliberate - the whole thing about not having the money to rent a tux for graduation a couple of years back could be followed on by not having the best fitting one for his wedding.

Re: WOW!
That's your defence in your stalking case is it?

Or to make him look like a slob compared to the god of S4 onwards - Spike.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:56 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
it's a good defence - honest! And besides, Nick asked if he could stay at my place - and it's on tape - so that doesn't really count as stalking does it? *grin*

I don't get the attraction of Spike at all, sorry to everyone who does, but he's short, blond and so skinny he's like a walking cadavar.
[identity profile] keith5by5.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 05:59 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
I think him tied in your basement doesn't count.

Hey! A midget vampire's a good gimmick, never been done before.

Ps. did you read my top 10 het partners thing on Facets Of Faith?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 14th, 2005 06:03 am (UTC)
Re: WOW!
Don't have a basement. Got a loft though, and it's mostly floored...

I did read your list and the first few answers but I haven't read them all yet.

Re: WOW!
BTW. Just trying to write Angelus' first appearance in Faith: The Series. So I'm sat there, mouthing all the dialouge to get it right in this appalling Irish accent.

Although probably better than DS's. He had the worst put-on accent of the lot! AD, and JM all did great ENglish, but DB's. Although JL sounded like Mary Poppins would if turned by Dick Van Dyke....
