Doing okay now
Thanks all for your advice yesterday, I actually switched off the computer for the first time in days and curled up on the sofa watching TV last night.

I got to see the damage to the car this morning in as good daylight as it gets in Scotland in February and it's not too bad. The side panel on the passenger side is dented right in but hopefully the garage will be able to pop that out without too much trouble. There's some scratching as well at the wheel arch but it's not actually as much as it might have been - it'll probably be a re-spray job though.

The garage is going to phone today to arrange a time to take it in for the repairs but to get to them from work I have to drive back past my house and then another thirty odd miles. They're my insurance company's approved garage though so they can guarantee me a courtesy car while it's being fixed, but it still means I'll have to take at least a day, if not two, off work to get it done.

*sigh*

Ah well, I plan on catching up on the site updates today so long as I can ignore the subject librarian who was pissing me off yesterday.

Glad you're okay and that your car isn't a total write off.

*hugs*

Thanks.

I'm still really headachey and tired - adrenaline and shock not a good mix.

Neither is eating nothing but high sugar foods.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:09 am (UTC)
No it isn't. Try and eat something sensible, I know you've had a shock but you're okay and you've got to look after yourself.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:17 am (UTC)
I know, I am though. I even had cereal this morning and you know what I'm like with breakfast and the not eating of it...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:26 am (UTC)
That's of the good then. Don't want to have to come round there and beat you with a pointy stick.

*grins*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:29 am (UTC)
Of course the cereal I had was Tesco's 'Breakfast Boulders' which nephew decided he didn't like so I got given the box of. They're kinda sweet....
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:31 am (UTC)
As long as you're not over doing it with the sweet stuff.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:33 am (UTC)
Me? I'm naturally sweet...

Nah, I'm balancing - I have to otherwise coma-ville beckons...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:36 am (UTC)
*grins* Very sweet.

And no comas, don't want that.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:37 am (UTC)
Nope, definitely not.

Although... might cure the insomnia problem, at least I'd get some sleep...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:39 am (UTC)
Not really, from what I've heard one of the first things that someone that comes out of a coma wants to do is sleep.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:44 am (UTC)
Crap, that kind of puts paid to that plan then....

It's officially nippy in the offfice this morning, I was wondering if I was shivering because the 'incident' is still affecting me, but everyone else is complaining about the cold.

Sorry, that was random...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 01:51 am (UTC)
It's been quite cold the last couple of days, but if your office is cold somebody should get the heating sorted out.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 02:02 am (UTC)
This is the worst designed office in the history of office design. It's actually just a large corridor that they stuck desks into - seriously. There's next to no natural light, the bulbs we have are fluorescent horribleness that gives everyone a headache and I'm sitting right under an air con vent that's blasting out cold air at me right now. We're also semi-open to the public in that the enquiry point is a huge gaping hole in the wall out into the much-better looking study hall. Which has about 150 PCs in there. Which need air con to make sure they don't overheat. Air Con that's tied into the system also used in this office.

So if they turn it off in here they also turn it off where the students are and then there'll be complaints that the room's too stuffy.

We've said to this kind of thing in the library, they've got to know check with information services across in the computing department of the main university building to see if they can change the environment around the student PCs, if they say yes, they then have to ask Estates & Buildings (also on the main campus and not in the library) to actually make the change. Then they have to monitor the change to make sure it doesn't adversely affect anyone.

Right now they're giving out little individual heaters instead - my boss who's at the next desk has one and has very kindly angled it so my right ankle is warm. Shame about the rest of me that's being blasted by the directly above my head air con vent...

(and don't even get me started on the new Wi-Fi system they've just installed - also right above me...)

Yes, I realize I missed out some critical words there - typing with blocks of ice instead of fingers'll do that to a person...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 02:25 am (UTC)
So throw the blocks of ice at your boss and use your fingers instead you eejit.

*grins*

Heh!

Drinking far too much coffee now, but it's hot and the mug warms my hands...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 03:22 am (UTC)
Try to keep yourself warm, even if it does mean drinking 10 mugs of coffee while you're at work.

You feeling better?

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope things get fixed up quick.

Take it easy for a bit.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 03:26 am (UTC)
fingers crossed everything works out okay. I'm doing better now - not as shaken as I was, still a little jumpy though.

Shame the uni has this silly 'alcohol is not appropriate for the workplace' policy because I could really do with a stiff drink to calm me down.

*smiles*

That's what lunch in the local is for!

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 03:40 am (UTC)
Now that's not a half-bad idea!

{hugs}

Glad you're okay.

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 04:52 am (UTC)
Thanks. I'm very hyper today and talking non-stop as well so I almost feel sorry for everyone else in the office with me. Almost. :)
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on February 15th, 2005 05:02 am (UTC)
Glad to hear you're feeling better.

*echoes Andy's advice about eating and not o/ding on the sweet stuff*

I really should take that advice myself though, I'm sure my sweet tooth is the reason I don't seem to lose weight easily *blushes*
