OMG!!!  
How did I miss the news of this? Last night at the SECC was a Tsunami Relief concert with a smattering of Scottish bands and artists. Now, not to put down either of them ('cause I do love 'em) Deacon Blue and Eddi Reader would have been first on that list but I've just read the review in the Sunday Herald.

The line-up in order of appearance

Belle & Sebastian
Teenage Fanclub
Trashcan Sinatras
Eugene Kelly
Travis
Idlewild
Franz Ferdinand
Eddi Reader
Texas
Snow Patrol (yes I know they're not really Scottish but they live here now and they're honorary Scots)

Compered by Craig Hill (irritating Scottish comic) with appearances by Karen Dunbar (Scottish comic who bears an uncanny resemblance to my cousin Elaine) and Simon Pegg!!! (If I have to tell you who Simon Pegg is... go watch Shaun of the Dead and Spaced)

There's not one band there I don't love in their own way (although it took me a minute to remember who Slam are) and there are some there I would have given anything to see but to have them all at the one gig? Wow!

So where exactly was this advertised? 'cos I didn't know about this either. I'd have been there as well.

I honestly don't know, I just opened up the Herald and there it was spread all over page 3 as well as a pull-out souvenir guide thingy.

They said in the paper that there was a live cd of the gig available to buy from the SECC's site but I couldn't spot it on there. (http://www.secc.co.uk)

Had a quick look there and couldn't see it either, even with finding the page for the concert.

They were selling them in the foyer straight after the gig apparently. Seems to be becoming a fairly routine practice these days - [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile has a whole collection of the gigs she was at on CD.

ooops :$, Lorraine bought us tickets without me really saying much and the next thing I knew it was sold out.

I can report back it was a fantabulous evening, and sorry but Slam were just plain pants..... just not my cup of tea really.
