Flagging now...
Half a day isn't too bad is it? I've managed to get through all the urgent emails and the like without screaming or throwing a tantrum. Now I'm just so tired and shivery that I'm not sure whether I'm still sick (I can't still be sick, that's 22 days already!!) or whether it's this office being stupidly heated or whether I just need more sleep.

I have no flexi-time saved up and I've got so much work to catch up on that I'd have a hell of a cheek leaving early tonight, but I don't know how I'm going to get through this afternoon

Edit to add Angie at work has seen how down I was getting and has left me a very yummy picture of Colin Farrell on my desk. I'm marginally happier now!

Oh and [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs, if I haven't emailed you by tomorrow morning then come shout at me - I've done some reworking on those graphics and I need to send them to you! :)

I find the uni to have bizzare heating, the Adam Smith building is always absolutely freezing, so it may be the heating rather than still being ill. If you do still feel crappy, I'd find a way to go back home 'cos being back at work when I still feel ill just makes it worse :(

I might have a word with the department head when she gets back from lunch - I'm not doing any good sitting here feeling sorry for myself with my jacket on... :)

Oh, and I know it's probably too late for the book you needed but http://www.lib.gla.ac.uk/DirLibs/forensic.html has a phone number for the Forensic dept. library

Thanks, Sho :)
I might have a wee wander down there during the holidays if I have some time.

Well, if you've make it through til I'm there I suggest spending most of the afternoon in Book Processing with Matt and I ;o).

Plus, I desperately need to talk to someone about the trauma of a Lost dream I had the other night.....

Heh! Matt's taken a half day though, so it'll just be you there. All on your own. With Patsy in the next room... *g*

Now that's just mean. Perhaps I won't give you back your Firefly DVDs afterall......

;o)

If you do that I'll let Shona have mine and then you'll have to give them back to me. And I'm far meaner than Sho is.

That's fightin' talk that is! :op I'd watch out if I were you, I really am truly evil [insert evil laugh here].

Plus, being meaner than Shona isn't that great a feat, the darling that she is :o).

Gotta agree with you about Shona, she's very sweet.

Awww, part of me is going all gooey with the love here but the much larger cynical part of me is wondering what it is you guys are after...

If you're sitting there feeling sorry for yourself, you're not going to get much work done nor are you going to do yourself any good.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 15th, 2005 05:02 am (UTC)
I know, but if I go home sick then I will be hauled up by Human Resources, after a prolonged absence if I was to leave again so soon I'd risk disciplinary action, which sucks.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 15th, 2005 05:04 am (UTC)
I'll save time and just say to look at the thread on my last post and just apply everything that was said to me to yourself instead.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 15th, 2005 06:11 am (UTC)
Yeah, but I've already had one 'meeting' about prolonged absences a couple of years ago so my record is not good. Of course the fact that I had glandular fever at the time was never really considered...

Ah I see that recently achieved 'Investors in People' award is well deserved and working to the advantage of the staff;)

(In my world HEIs are supposed to be nicer!)

Did we get the IIP then? I know we were going for it but hadn't heard any more.

They don't do anything more than pull us in for meetings about attendance now and then, but it all goes on the permanent record so any references I'm likely to get from this place are all going to be "poor attendance record" which really does suck.

Still, all the more reason to start the bookshop!

<Are you still up for helping out with that site btw? I'll email you tonight about it if you are)
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 15th, 2005 07:26 am (UTC)
IIP does shit. Ladbrokes got it about 6 years ago and then became worse than ever in treating there staff. I honestly don't know how they got it.

And when you get the bookshop off the ground I'll be more than willing to help when I can.

This being disciplined for getting ill sucks royally. I mean I get that they want to watch for people taking sickies, or just always going off for minor colds that they could really come in for, but when you've got something significant, when you've got a doctor's note to say it, and you've had to be off for a significant period of time, they should support you in convalescing properly, and let you take off the time you need without jumping on you.

Anyway, hope you both feel better soon.
