I need a volunteer
I need someone to take all my records, tapes, CDs and mp3 files away from me and hide them until future notice. I also need you to stop me buying or otherwise obtaining new ones. On top of that you also have to block all the music channels on my Sky digital box, all the radio stations as well, and remove all traces of musical soundtrack on every programme or film I watch.

I did it again, listened to a CD I haven't heard for years (literally this time - think the last time I heard it was 1999) and now I have story ideas and character profiles running rampant in my head. As a result I'm now planning a rewrite on Things Don't Always Turn Out That Way which I've been playing with redoing for a while now but it was always low priority. Now, thanks to Shirley Mansun, it's just been bumped up to a three-way tie for top priority. I have to finish Crimson Regret first though, I really must. And at least update WaDaDM as well (those are the other two in the three-way tie)

How do people cope with multi-tasking fic like this? Or am I the only one insane enough to have seven on the go at once?

*note to self* must start seeing things through to the end, finish one fic before starting the next...

The album? Since you ask it's Version 2.0 - Garbage. Garbage songs have always put me in mind of Faith for some reason, particularly 'Stupid Girl' which isn't even on 2.0 - I in no way imply that I think Faith is stupid, far from it. Listen to the song, or find the lyrics somewhere, and you might get a glimpse of what I mean. This entire album though, every single song on it just gets to the core of Faith - I think. And even that's bizarre to me since one of my favourite fanartists (the fantastic Jenni Lou over at Daydreaming) has a Buffy/Xander wallpaper which is still one of my favourites and is currently my desktop background on this PC and which uses the lyrics from 'The Trick Is To Keep Breathing' on it. So I automatically associate the song with B/X - when I heard it this morning? Faith.

So... any volunteers to keep me from going insane?

I'm not sure. I don't want your fics to stop coming, but I don't want you going insane either. I think I'll take the chance and volunteer to remove all music from your life.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 12:48 am (UTC)
See my thinking is this - most of my fics are inspired by songs somewhere along the line (you can tell by the titles usually), so if I stop listening to anything but that particular song then there's a good chance that fic will be finished (or at least updated) more quickly. So if I stop listening to anythign new or different I won't get any new ideas and the ongoing fics will be done.

Of course that might not work and could conceivably end up with me just going insane from listening to one song on a loop constantly.

Maybe it's too late to keep me from going nuts. I think I might already be there...

So it's not just me that might need to go and see a psychiatrist then?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 12:53 am (UTC)
people have been telling me for years I need therapy, or locked away.

*g*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 12:56 am (UTC)
Awwwww. The invisible people that talk to you in your padded room shouldn't be so mean.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 01:21 am (UTC)
And now you have another song in my head. Thanks for that...

"I’m talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
And I know, I know they’ve all been talking about me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong with me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I’ve lost my mind

But I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell
I know right now you can’t tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you’ll see
A different side of me
I’m not crazy, I’m just a little impaired
I know right now you don’t care
But soon enough you’re gonna think of me
And how I used to be"

ooohhh, I was just recently lent a copy of 2 garbage albums :) How on earth did I miss them before.... actually dont answer that. Am now on the hunt for reasonably priced copies of them for myself hehehe
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 01:18 am (UTC)
Which albums do you want? I can get you copies of Version 2.0 and one other which I've forgotten the name of right now...

damn my sieve like brain...

Btw, I've given Sharon the money for that night out so you have to come now!
[identity profile] acrazywench.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 01:55 am (UTC)
Well the other one could be Beautiful Garbage or just Garbage. If it's got a pink feather boa on it, it's Garbage. You can usually get the albums for about £5 or £6 in the sales. (I would copy them for you, Denise, but I'm technology poor at the mo, and can't even cd to tape at the moment! I can tape to tape, but that would involve me locating a tape with Garbage on, which would be easy if I put labels on my tapes, but I think that spoils the fun.)

I've always thought Stupid Girl is an excellent song for Faith. It would probably make a good music vid.

One of these days I will sit down with my dvd's and actually make one of these videos that I have story-boarded. One of them is actually for Stupid Girl, but it's more a Slayer vid rather than just Faith - Buffy and Kendra make appearances too. Or they would, if I could work out the technology and find time and patience...

[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 05:35 am (UTC)
Thanks for offers to copy them, I can take a wee copy of the CD's I've got if I want to. I just like to have originals thats all, I'm an old fashioned girly in that sense ;)
Might have a look in a second hand CD shop and see what I can get in there.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:07 am (UTC)
Heh, and yet you won't say no to the copies of Lost I'm burning for you...

*g*
[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:12 am (UTC)
oops, Think that just sent a random message there.
If I like Lost I will go buy it ;) you gotta try before you buy sometimes.
Did I not go buy Firefly after getting hooked on it hehehe
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:14 am (UTC)
hehehe yeah, I know you will

Assuming that is that it ever gets released over here!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:17 am (UTC)
Sho has a hibit of doing that with people. I am currently watching through Firefly, and thoroughly enjoying it, after Sho's persistance that I watch it. And I'm sure that once Lost airs on UK tv *grins* I'll love it that much that I'll buy the DVDs.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:21 am (UTC)
Ha! Like you've not seen it already...

*g*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:27 am (UTC)
Yes, I have seen most of the episodes of Firefly already. I hope you're not trying to infere that I have somehow managed to already get illegal copies of Lost and have seen quite a few of the episodes within a day or two of them airing in the states.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:49 am (UTC)
Would I imply something like that? Perish the thought!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:51 am (UTC)
Just so long as we're clear. *cough* Yay Hurley *cough*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 07:00 am (UTC)
Just like I would never ever dream of doing anything along those lines either.

BTW, give me a shout tonight if you want the first ep of Tru Calling sent to you...
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 07:02 am (UTC)
Oohhh Okay.
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 02:24 am (UTC)
I'm definitely not volunteering to take your music away if it means I get to put my beta-ing hat on again *g*.

I'm surprised you're not getting idea's for the SW xover with all the publicity at the moment though.

I'll let you into a secret, I'm currently re-reading the Heir to the Empire books which feature Mara pretty intensively. Although Worlds Collide actually comes during the Jedi Academy trilogy so I may have to start on those again soon.

I have the second chapter almost written - the only part I'm spacing on is the part featuring the characters I can normally write with my eyes closed - Mara and Xander. Maybe tomorrow though!
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 04:58 am (UTC)
Ben has both those trilogies so I've read 'em. But he's currently on a SW kick, I think the trailers infected him. He reading (and so am I, in a way) a late book at the moment with Mon Arnor and Ossarians in, I think, with a 16-year old Jaina & Jacen, and a 15-year old Anakin. Looks okay so far.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 06:08 am (UTC)
Hmmm, that'll be a New Jedi Order book.

The series starts well, and that's all I'll say about it.

:)

Seven? SEVEN?!?

I thought I had gone insane with the five I've got going. But SEVEN?!?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 04:54 am (UTC)
I know, I know. I'm clearly insane but all these little ideas keep jumping into my head and instead of doing the sensible thing and writing down the ideas for later I end up writing down the idea, adding some dialogue, fleshing out the idea and before I know it I'm writing another fic...

*headdesk*
[identity profile] emeraldswan.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 03:43 pm (UTC)
I've stoped keeping track of how many WsIP I have. I have finally decided to just write whatever I feel like writing, when I feel like writing it. Problem with that is ... I think I have over ten stories going right now. *pushes that thought from mind* Will not think about it. Just will not. :)

Have I told you that I might very well be going to a Convention that Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, and Common Rotation will be at?

How's you?

Smiles, Emmy
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 17th, 2005 10:36 pm (UTC)
Ten? Gah! I could not cope with that at all!

And yay for the convention! You mentioned you might be going to one but not who was going to be there. Nathan is a very funny man and I can't wait to meet him again - only a month to go now!

BTW, I sent back SKOH 3 yesterday but I only had your yahoo email at work - did you get it at all? (I got the zip file btw)
