Grrr argh!!!
So I'm sewing a costume for the burlesque night I'm going to on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] engelsteorra and [livejournal.com profile] smileawhile. I got the pattern pieces cut out and finally got the sewing machine out tonight. Sewed it all up and with a couple of dodgy seams I can fix in a little bit, the main part is done. Except it's too big.

It's at least one size too big and I know I haven't lost any weight lately (in fact I'd be surprised if the opposite wasn't true!) so now I have to go back and take it in all over....

Gah.

I was planning on doing a post about WKA tonight but my brain has been too caught up in matching bits of leather together to think straight. I will post tomorrow when I'm not so GAH! about the outfit. (There's no way I have time to redo this from scratch before Saturday)

You had to go and mention it was leather didn't you? Not gonna be able to get the image of you in leather out of my head now.

*BEG*

LOL! If I can't get it taken in it might never see the light of day. :)

Well done on the outfit-making, I know I wouldn't be able to do that :)

It's actually not that difficult once you get a little bit of practice. The hardest thing is actually understanding the jargon to be honest.

Well, that and sewing leather. It's bloody difficult!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 12:55 pm (UTC)
You're actually better doing it by hand than using a machine, because you generally need a relatively large needle to be able to puncture the leather.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 12:58 pm (UTC)
Which is why I have a specialist leather needle for my very good and useful sewing machine.

I may not be all that domesticated, but I do know my way around a Singer. :)

That's okay then.

*runs away before Sho can think to ask him how he knows about sewing leather*

Well.... now you bring it up Andy, we're going to expire with suspense here.....

My interest in Medieval Arms and Armour, leather armour being used extensively as a cheap form of armour. Plus with having done Live Role Playing and using leather shoes. Soft leather is my friend, but it needs repaired more often than not.

Yeah, enquiring minds wanna know....

*g*

(damn, I used to have an 'evil leather' icon but I rotated it out...)
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:06 pm (UTC)
Hmmmm, this icon do the job?

Does my answer above satisfy your curiosity?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:15 pm (UTC)
sounds almost believable.

Note the almost.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:16 pm (UTC)
What's not to believe? Why else would I know about sewing leather?
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:23 pm (UTC)
Hmmmm.... not sure if that's a topic for polite company or not Andy *eWg*
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:27 pm (UTC)
Why do you think I had a handy excuse ready? I mean, ummm, ohhh damnit.

*looks sheepish*

Sorry about your outfit troubles!

Hopefully it's fixable - in fact I think I left a little too much seam allowance in the first place so I can go back and fix that and hope it makes a difference.

I'm just shocked it's ended up being too big - felt sure it was going to be too small when I was cutting it.
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 01:05 pm (UTC)
I'm sure it's fixable! I have faith in you!

Does this mean the package arrived then? Heck, if it looks good you might get a commission *EG*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 6th, 2005 12:56 pm (UTC)
It did indeed - I thought I'd replied to the email, sorry. Thank you!

Not a problem, glad to be of service.
