Speak, dammit!
I'm writing a crossover fic between two of my top fandoms, featuring characters I adore from those fandoms and have never really had a problem writing on their own.

I try to bring them together and they just will not talk to each other!

Gah!

I've always thought dialogue was one of the weaker points of my writing anyway, but these guys? They need to talk, right now, things need to be said. But they won't bloody well cooperate!

:: trys to help ::

ok, three ideas...

They get stuck in a lift together, when it breaks down

Have a friend in common, who introduces them.

Or one of them is unable to talk for some reason and leaves you to deal with the other

Gluck!!

Good plans all, except the fandoms are so far apart that there's no way they'd have a mutual friend... *g*

I think I got it solved by having immediate impending doom throw them together. Kinda worked, I think. It's being betad just now so I'll find out if it worked at all soon!

Maybe the characters are people who don't normally open up to stangers? In that case not talking would be what they do, but I don't know... What fandoms are they?

It's Star Wars extended universe and Buffy. Both are kinda private in their own way but with one in particular she's known for fitting into situations seamlessly so her inability to make conversation was driving me nuts. I think I nailed it though - we'll see what my beta reader says!

Are Mara and Xander not behaving for you then?

*grins*
