I miss email...
IT are working on our Outlook server right now so I have no email. I also have no reminders of tasks or calendar appointments or anything and I'm sure there's lots of important stuff I have to be doing right about now...

*sigh*

Watched Doctor Who last night - funny/sad/brilliant. One question though - okay those costumes had to be clunky and hard to run in, but why did they CGI the aliens at one point and not others?! Just bizarre! But the whole scene with "I could save the world, but lose you." When did Doctor Who get so touchingly schmaltzy? And the little "We have detected weapons of destruction which can be activated within 45 seconds" - when did Doctor Who get so blatantly political?!

*g*

I have a favour to ask two of you - [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan and [livejournal.com profile] rileysaplank, would you mind looking over a little prologue to a new fic I wrote this morning. (Wrote the prologue, not the actual fic yet!) Yes, another new fic - although this one's been bubbling under the surface for a while now - I just decided to stop trying to force the other ones and just write what wanted to be written - this one was the result! (750 ish words in under an hour - not too bad for someone as out of practice as I seem to be right now!)

And I need to start eating proper breakfasts. Seriously, I can barely hear myself think over the sound of my stomach growling right now!

Ahem, aren't you already eating breakfast regularly?! I feel a lecture coming on.....*g*

I found Dr Who very annoying this week. I thought that the 45 second thing was inappropriate because we're in the middle of an election campaign and possibly worthy of cutting. Ok, so the writer wouldn't have known that we'd be in election period at the time of writing, but it still felt overly political and crass. I'm watching the new series of Dr Who, but I'm not enjoying it half as much as I thought I would:( At some points I do like Christopher Eccleston's Dr, but at others some of the writing and characterisation leaves me a bit cold. If it weren't for the fact that I already have a love for Dr Who, thanks to Tom Baker, his scarf, K-9, and the orange plastic couch that used to offer my protection from daleks, cybermen and other nasties, I might well have stopped watching by now. I've already stopped recording the eps. because I can't see myself wanting to do a rewatch.

Ah well, let's hope the new Hitchhikers is something to write home about:)

On a happier note, I finished watching War Stories this morning:) Yay!! Now that's how writing should be!! (I think Joss has spoilt me for all other television:()

Beck.

I'm still enjoying Doctor Who - it's not as good as I hoped it would be, there are real problems with Eccleston's portrayal sometimes and if Rose's mother is in one more episode I think I may commit murder, but all in it's enjoyable. The politicality of this episode was a bit much given the election campaigning but the celt in me found a lot of the little digs really clever - might even have gone over a lot of the audiences heads but things like the US (presumably CNN) newsreader saying 'England' instead of Britain were really cleverly dropped in (and it was Russell Daviwes who wrote that epsiode, a Welshman)

I was watching it on my PC last night, sitting in my computer chair, and when the trailer for next week's came on - right at the end I literally pushed myself halfway across the room with the force of the 'Bloody hell!' that erupted at the site of the new Dalek. Part of me knew that was what the episode was about, but the much larger part of me had forgotten and was completely blown away by it.

And I do eat breakfast, kinda, just not usually till tea break in the morning (which is in 20 minutes)...

Daviwes being an obscure colloquial spelling of Davies, obviously.

Hun, I was only joking about the breakfast - don't worry, you won't be subjected to a 3 day lecture come Friday;)

I wish they wouldn't do the next week on - I like being spoiler free and sometimes the remote isn't close enough to switch channels in time! I do miss the cliffhangers - they almost managed it for the last story, but then ruined it by doing the 'next week on Dr Who....'!

The involvement of Rose's mother does seem to be a bit much. Just in case she's in it next week, can we not sit next to each other during the screening? I don't want to be in the line of fire!!

I'd rather the series didn't spend so much time on Earth. Can't they keep to their roots and go visit a Welsh slate mine? We'll believe it's another planet:) I did notice the 'England', I liked it as a dig at US coverage - after all Bush did once ask Charlotte Church which part of the US Wales was in!*g*

Sean has been trying to get Sean Mahr (is that spelt right?) in to replace Adam Baldwin, but I don't think it's happened:( On the plus side though, Sean's managed to give away that both Sean M and Alan Tudyk are signed up for November. (Well I'm guessing Alan Tudyk is signed up since Sean's suggesting Alan Tudyk as a party theme for Serenity Squared!)

*g* I know you were just joking - so was I. :)

I saw the email about Sean M not being able to make it which was a bit of a let-down but then I'm thinking maybe people who guest starred might be more likely to come on short notice... like Jonathon Woodward possibly....

I would love it if Jonathan Woodward was a surprise special guest. I would definitely have to have a photo with him, and maybe even a whisky shot;)

[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 03:02 am (UTC)
I think it would be hard to keep it down to just the one whisky shot to be honest!

T'would be very fun if he was there!

(I'm getting increasingly hyped about this now - yay!)

WOOHHOOOOO!!!

In the thread about what you can get signed, someone's posted up a poster advertising Serenity asking if that counts as official for getting signed, Sean's response:

"Hope you didn't pay for it, 'cos we're giving them away for free on the weekend."

Woohaaaay!! One dance of joy coming up!*g*

Getting all giddy now:)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 03:43 am (UTC)
YAY!!!!

Joins you in the dance of joy!

That just rocks! (is very very excited over the prospect of a poster... how sad is that?!)
[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 04:10 am (UTC)
oohhhh ,me getting very excited now.... sitting here with yet another huge grin on my face.

I was just about to email you - got a checkin reminder thingy for the flights about an hour ago.

I like BA a lot better than Ryanair - they cater to people like me who lose the original email...

ooops,

You found the hotel booking?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 05:59 am (UTC)
*g* - yup, printed out and sitting on my surprisingly tidy desk at home.

[identity profile] smileawhile.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 06:28 am (UTC)
wow,

you're getting all organised in your old age ;)

Less of the old thank you very much! Or need I remind you who's older? *g*
[identity profile] acrazywench.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 04:13 am (UTC)
Not sad at all. You should have seen the dance of joy and singing I did yesterday because of something work-related. Now that was sad!

I don't know how big the poster will be - small I imagine - but I'm already thinking of trying to find some kind of tube so that it can be transported home in pristine condition!*g*

Heh! My sister did Tech Drawing at school (the only female in her class to do so...) so I may be able to borrow the blueprint holdery thing she had for that - if she still has it...

[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 03:14 am (UTC)
I'll do it if you promise to start eating a proper breakfast, that's the deal.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 03:16 am (UTC)
How does a cheese savoury wholemeal roll sound?

Pretty balanced and breakfast worthy?

*g*

My email's now back up and running - I'll send it on over to you now... Thanks!
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on April 26th, 2005 03:19 am (UTC)
Okay. I'll take that.
