Saw the Veronica Mars finale in the early hours of this morning. Can you say left field? I liked it, I think. I may have to watch it again when I'm slightly more awake (or at least caffeinated) to process it properly. I can buy Aaron being the killer, but the motive just seemed to come from nowhere. Okay we had all the hints (although hints is so not the word I want to use here!) that Lily was a nympho but still... Aaron? I have two other problems with the episode - where was Wallace most of the time and what's the deal with Weevil and Veronica - she knew that he would go after Logan but she didn't say anything. At the bridge, when she called Logan but couldn't get through surely she'd have (at that point) considered the fact that perhaps she could call Weevil?

Final point - I don't know about the USA but here in the UK one of the first things that gets drummed into a young girl driving on her own is this: Always check the back seat is empty before you get into the car!

Veronica is not stupid, far from it, and yes she had other things on her mind at the time but come on? We're supposed to blindly accept that she wouldn't automatically be aware of her own security - especially at a time like that?! Gah!

Still, I did like it... I think.

And in non-Veronica Mars news... I started a new diet last night. I plan to stick to this one and it claims that my goal weight will be reached by 15th June. I'm a little suspicious of that date since it's only a month away, but the projected weight loss is fairly sensible (1 to 2 pounds a week) so I guess it's possible. Anyway, wish me luck!

Luck with the diet. And one to two pounds a week is emminently acheivable. Any more than that and the weight loss can actually be dangerous.

thanks - and yup, I've seen diets that promised a four pound loss every week and it just makes me shake my head. The first week or two on a new plan and yes, you'll lose that much but then it'll tail off and go to 1 or 2 pounds which is a safe level.

(and much as I love this icon, I think I may have to make one of my own because I'm itching to put a white colour layer in there (or maybe a screen layer) just to lighten it a little - sorry photoshop geek alert!)

I really liked it, not least because in the end I was (mostly) right about the killer. I feel all smart and stuff.

The Weevil/Logan thing was one of two bits that bugged me. The other....

'I was hoping it'd be you....' The. Fuckers.

Well, obviously, you're susposed to think it's either Logan or Duncan (if it is one of those guys I hope it's Logan. I feel she'd moved on from Duncan lately and it'd be too 'regular teen drama' to go back that way).

But I think it might be Wallace, after the day she had she'd be pretty bloody glad to see her best friend so she could chill/talk about it with no boyfriendy pressure.

Y'know I never even considered it could be Duncan. The way I was thinking it was either going to be Logan, Wallace, Weevil (there's so much more there to be told) or her mother.

I doubt it'll be the last one, Veronica apparently hadn't seen that her mother had gone by that point so her reaction was wrong. Weevil, I want it to be him but I doubt it is. Wallace and Logan... I think it's more likely to be Wallace but they could be setting it up for the season arc next year so it could theoretically be a completely new character we've never seen before.

Also, wasn't the bit where they found out Keith is her dad played out so amazingly well? I must admit I had a wee tear in my eye....

With Weevil, he's too much of a combination of cliches not to be painted that way for a reason. He's Lily's bit of rough from the wrong side of town with the heart of gold - puh-lease! This show delights in kicking apart stereotypes and cliches and yet there's Weevil. I don't buy it. Why is he so willing to help Veronica out when he's been shown as having fluid loyalties in the past? Has he ever said no to one of her requests? Sure he's griped and threatened her a little, but he's always come through. I don't trust him.

And yes - the reveal scene with the paternity? So well done - and nicely underplayed. I had a lump in my throat if not a tear in my eye...

You're right about Weevil, there's definitely got to be more going on there. Perhaps he'll be at the centre (argggh! I typed that as center at first, I'm being infected by American-ness!) of next year's mystery.

Well, I had got up early to work on the voting and get into processing in time to do some overtime. But since I've spent the last hour replying to you, emails and post on BG and am still in my PJs I've a feeling that both of those plans are out of the window.....

I only just got into it at the prompting of [livejournal.com profile] engelsteorra (she wouldn't leave me alone until I'd watched at least one episode, I ended up watching the first 18 all in one weekend!)

You're still ahead of Mark. He did a few episodes then stopped because of it's timeslot and was all "I'll get it on DVD" and meanwhile I didn't know anyone who watched and I was ticked and like "Dude, I dl the episodes, let me send them to you." and it never clicked with him that I was saving all the eps on my HD. So now I'm sending them to him one by one. We're on #4 now.

Soon we can get him into the fold.
