If the financial indicators for 2003 are re-ranked as per capita calculations, it comes 26th for net assets per capita, 17th in terms of endowments per capita, but only 127th for liquidity per caipta and reserves per capita. Ok, so it had -16 days cover, (how many days it could continue operating if the money stopped coming in), and was fourth from bottom on that particular table....but hey, what's one gloomy financial indicator between friends!

And anyhow, St Andrews is second from bottom in that last table.

The sad thing is that if they offer severance to the library? I know at least six people who would jump at it. Plus, there's an academic library somewhere in the UK (I think it may be the University of Wales) who are basically phasing out all of their library staff except for subject librarians, some shelvers and e-journals staff. If our library follows suit (which there's no way we could operate if we did) then my job (as an ejournals coordinator) is possibly one of the few ones not to go. *sigh* I'm never getting out of here am I?

See, now I'm trying to get myself sacked by instigating rebellion... d'you know the only Grade 2 in the main office today is Angie and Matt's been taken through to the processing office to cover that window? Since we're so short surely it'd make more sense to have the sign up referring folks through to the main office and keep Matt through here so that Angie can walk away from the desk every now and then?!

Don't get me started on that..... I want to know how they justify paying Lorraine £2000 a year (pro rata) more than me for the same job. If she's on a Library Assistant contract rather than a Book Processing one then she should be doing Library Assistant duties.

That was actually mentioned more than once in a supervisor's meeting. The end result? She was asked to put out the newspapers because that's a Grade 2 task.

She's actually through there with Matt right now as well, so why isn't she handling photocopy queries? grrr
