Bastard! and Hehehe!
Some sneaky little sod sneaked in and outbid me at the very last second...

I didn't get my Snoopy mug.

Ah well, them's the breaks I guess.

Now I'm off to go answer [livejournal.com profile] _deepred_ in [livejournal.com profile] _inthedarkness and maybe consider getting some work done.

Oh, if any of you are in the 'information' profession and get copies of Elseviers LibraryConnect journal? Yes that is me in the photograph on page 3 of pamphlet supplement 7. Hey - I'm a page 3 girl! (ETA just realised half of you might not get that reference - page 3 girls are 'glamour models' who pose topless for tabloid newspapers, invariably they appear on page 3 of said tabloids)

"At Glasgow, there is now a staff member at senior library assistant level who spends a large proportion of her time collecting and assembling usage statistics." - That's me he's talking about that is!

(to explain - my head of department wrote an article about how we at GUL use usage statistics for journals, the article just appeared in print.)

I volunteered for the Fresher's Fair again this year - anyone remember the "Suck It And See" t-shirt from last year? This year's theme is going to be jungle/survival. I think. I dread to think what I'll end up wearing this time around! First meeting is this afternoon, hopefully this won't be a case of the bosses having already decided on what we're doing and expecting us to go along with it - 'cause sorry, but I'm not wearing a t-shirt with a picture of what looks like a condom and the words 'Suck it and see' plastered over my chest. (It was actually a lollipop, but it definitely had condom-like qualities)

Oooo - [livejournal.com profile] engelsteorra this'll interest you, the supervisors are having a 'discussion' about why we have to send someone through to processing as well as photocopying cover... Drama in the library! (of course, now the conversation's moved onto hair dye and not one of them thought to ask me if I had work for a Grade 2 to do (which I do, quite urgent stuff actually)

And for the funny? Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench for sending me this link: hehehe!

You haven't learnt your lesson from last year have you?

And *hugs* for not getting the Snoopy mug, I thought you were destined to get it. Tell me who won and I'll hunt them down til they're dead for you.

*grins*

My hope is that this year I'll have more input on it, I've even done a mock-up poster already so you never know...

*g*

It was fun last year though - doing the whole meet'n'greet thing was a blast - made me miss being in customer service. So I think I can cope with whatever they make me wear this year, so long as it's not a white t-shirt that's a size too small for me like last year.
[identity profile] rileysaplank.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2005 02:26 am (UTC)
Nah, they'll get you one that's two sizes too small this time, they know what'll attract young males to their stall.

*grins*

Given that last year our stall was right next to the GLAD stall there may be a few young females as well...

Well, whatever floats your boat. I had no idea you even had inklings of leaning in that direction.

Dammit, I meant to make sure my 'Reading is Sexy' t-shirt was clean for today. Maybe give them an other idea..... Oh well. Maybe I'll wear it if it's not too stinky *wink*.

Is there ever a time when the supervisors aren't fighting? Personally I've always thought the whole Photocopying 'window' thing was just retarded. It's not actually even a window for christ's sake. I can see the sense in the p/c person doing the filling of the machines but I think it would solve a lot of the problems to just have all student enquiries etc go through to the main window. Yes, it's a little bit further away but the students are young, their legs can take it.

Man, they should give me Catriona's job when she leaves, I'd whip them all into shape.

The whole photocopy window thing is a really insane system. It worked when that was actually the enquiry point window but that was what... four years ago now? Half the time the students have to come round to the enquiry point to get refunds on their cards or pay for acetates anyway.

Plus? The bell is on it's last legs - it really did sound like a death rattle this morning - so there wouldn't actually be that much of a problem to move the photocopy enquiry point through to the main office. Or hey, maybe even completely restructure the entire office and have that window actually be a window again and have that be the main enquiry point (and shut the one in this office down completely) Could work.

I'm going to see if I can drop the idea into conversation with you know who today. She's got a history of following up on my ideas (likes to claim them for herself no doubt) and we all know that what she wants she gets.

Blech, so can't the motivation to get in the shower today.....

Mwahahaha! Way to bend the library to our will!

And you're not showereing and wearing an unwashed shirt. Remind me not to sit next to you at the meeting then!
[identity profile] engelsteorra.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2005 03:42 am (UTC)
Actually now I've thought about it some more I'm convinced that it's a good idea so I think I'm going to pitch it to Catriona.

And don't worry, I'm clean now and so are my clothes.

Fear not, thanks to the Neanderthals working in most shipping companies, I'm pretty sure the damn mug will be nothing but jagged shards by the time it reaches the lowlife who dared to outbid you anyway! DICKWEED!!!!
