[livejournal.com profile] claudia6913 tagged me so here goes!

Why do you write fanfiction - honestly? I've always written things down, explored possibilities on paper. When I was in primary school and my teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I said "An Authoress" (yes, I wrote a lot, didn't always get the words right...) After a while, life got in the way and I stopped writing. Now I have things more under control, I write fic because there are things I wish I'd seen on the show, or possibilities I want to explore. And I write because otherwise my brain would snap under the sheer weight of all the 'what ifs' in my head.

What made you start? I got hooked into reading fanfic mostly because the official Star Wars books weren't being written fast enough for me and I did start picking up on little bits and pieces of stories I wanted to see expanded in the SW fandom. I wrote snippets, not stories. In fact, although I have written a lot of SW 'things', I've only written one actual 'fic'. The others are like vignettes, and they aren't online anymore. I still have them saved, and one of these days I'll get them onto a site again, but for now they're just sitting in a folder.

Then, one day, just after the episode Grave aired on Sky in the UK, I got an idea in my head for how I would have played out season six. It was so different that I had to get it on paper and once I started, it turned into a story I actually really liked and before I knew it I had four chapters, no end in sight, and another three one shot stories done. Around about that point I knew I could use fanfic as a writing excercise, to get me back into writing original stories and the rest, as they say, is history!

Slash, Het, or Gen? In BtVS it's actually mostly gen I write, with a healthy dose of het. I have dabbled in slash but it's not something I'm particularly comfortable writing to be honest. In SW? All three, with a heavy dose of f/f slash.

What fandoms do you write in? BtVS, sometimes AtS and SW:EU. I've dabbled in others as well but finding the hook into the characters doesn't come so easily.

What fandoms do you read in? BtVS, AtS, SW:EU, SG-1/Atlantis, Lost, Firefly, if I could find some really good Veronica Mars fic I'd read that too!

What's the worst story you've ever written? Take That! without a doubt. Challenge fic I wrote as a joke after way too much tequila. It's still online, if you know where to look. (and no, I'm not pointing you in its direction, it's too cringe-worthy!)

What writers are your inspiration? Everyone I read inspires me, but there are certain people whose writing I would read no matter what it was. [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat, [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs, [livejournal.com profile] smhwpf, [livejournal.com profile] bastardsnow, [livejournal.com profile] d_tepes, [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan and lots more of you guys I know already that I've forgotten to include other writers in that list - please don't take offence if your name's not on here, it's before 9am on a Saturday morning and my brain isn't yet in gear.

WIPs or completed stories only? That I write? Ha! WIPs. I start with the best of intentions, I fully intend to complete everything I write before I start anything new, but then... it never quite happens. I'm trying now to get all my WIPs completed before I start anything new, but all that's resulted in is three A4 notepads full of ideas, plot bunnies and snippets!

I'm now supposed to tag six of you to do this, but I won't. If you want to do it - go ahead! I'd be really keen to see your answers!

There's a lot of bad VM fic out there but I tend to like [livejournal.com profile] boyfriendincoma and [livejournal.com profile] sexycereal's fics. [livejournal.com profile] theohara has a Virtual Season 2 that a lot of people seem to like. Have you checked out the fic recs at [livejournal.com profile] vm_fic?

Oooo - thanks for the links! I'm just going to head over there right now and take a look!

The authors all x-post their stuff at [livejournal.com profile] veronicamarsfic for the masses, but it's easier to find the individual fics if you just go to their personal LJs and check their memories.

[livejournal.com profile] vm_fic recs fic by type, character focus, ships, etc. They do a pretty good job of sorting through everything and finding the good stuff.

I know exactly how you feel about WIP's...sigh! And I agree that [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan writes fantastic stories!
