Doctor Who
Finale just finished.

Still processing.

As I just said to [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan  - Oh. My. Sweet. Lord.

I never watched Doctor Who as a kid, my generation's doctor was Tom Baker and he scared the crap out of me with his staring eyes so I never watched it as a kid. I did watch the millennium Paul McGann thing and quite enjoyed it despite what I saw at the time as the 'americanization' of it.

So even though I'm way too old to say this, my 'Doctor' is Christopher Eccleston.

And damn if he isn't a great doctor! I had my doubts, when I heard he was cast I was more than a little skeptical - yes, he's done a lot of TV work, but I never watched 'Our Friends in the North'. I know him from Shallow Grave which rocks my socks - it's one of my top five favourite films. Anything else I've seen him in (28 Days Later and other films) he's been a complete psycho, I didn't think he'd be able to pull it off, but he so has.

My nephew who's 2 and a half loves this show, almost as much as me. I saw him today but I can't wait to have a conversation with him about the finale!

I'm so psyched about this - and I'm not on any Doctor Who forums or anything.

And just for [livejournal.com profile] willowmina and anyone else who's not seen it yet I'm cutting the rest (although it's not much, need to watch it again to process more!)
Cap'n Jack, Rose, the Doctor.... they killed 'em all int the last two-parter! Bloody hell!

Oh, and if there are Doctor Who slashers out there? The Cap'n Jack/Doctor kiss? So aimed at you guys!!

They have to go back for him! They can't leave him there!

The changeover with Chris Eccleston to David Tennant? Yeah, he can be the Doctor. Maybe.

Okay - gone monosyllabic now - have to go watch it again.

Just want to leave you with a quote:

Dalek: Exterminate!!!

Jack: Yeah, kinda figured that.

And as Simon Pegg just said on Doctor Who Confidential: Goodybe Doctor Number Nine, You've been a Northern Star.

Hehehehe. I cannot express how much I have loved this series. And you know what the biggest surprise for me has been?

Billie Piper

I actually forgot it was her. She is Rose.

Chris Eccleston has been brilliant as well, I'm just a little miffed that he decided not to continue with the role though.

Absolutely! Again with Billie, I was really skeptical - but she was great! She was Rose, she was the 'tart with a heart' but with the emphasis on the 'heart' part.

That part where the Doctor complimented Linda and Rose was all glowery? So funny!

Sorry - monosyllabic again. Damn, I should have taped the episode so I could watch it right now!

It's on again in a couple of hours on BBC3.

'twas very good. Although my brother would just not shut up. Retard.

I've never been that comfortable with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, I really didn't feel he nailed the comedy quite right. I am looking forward to seeing David Tennant get his teeth into it though. His Casanova was exactly the performance Eccleston was trying to create in his role as the Doctor, but Tennant nailed it in a way that Mr E just didn't for me......

Stupid Christmas being so far away (although there will be new Veronica Mars before then so all will be right with the world....)

Yay! More VM!!! But soooo long to wait for eveything - it's just wrong. I feel a temper tantrum coming on!

(and hit your brother from me - I even unplugged my phone so I could watch it uniterrupted!)

They managed to pack a whole lot of story into those 13 episodes. I was really impressed! It should be back around Christmas time but that just seems so far away right now!

I literally only just started making Doctor Who icons and the ones I've done so far aren't on the site yet - I just posted five to [livejournal.com profile] ms_graphics.

There's also a specific community for DW icons - [livejournal.com profile] dwicons but I'm not a member so I don't know what they're like. The one I'm using for this post was made by [livejournal.com profile] crazy_celebrian so it might be worth checking out her memories for more.
