SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have my guitar!!!!

It arrived, it's gorgeous, and it's all mine!

I know - you're sitting there thinking WTF? Guitar?! I hadn't mentioned it 'cause I wanted to wait till it got here. Long story short, I used to play a very long time ago. Things got in the way, my guitar was given away to someone who could actually use it.

I missed it.

Ten years later, I missed it so much I got another. It's not the guitar I had since I was 14, the one my dad bought second hand for fifteen quid from the local newspaper for me to learn on, but it's mine. It's not tuned properly yet, because I can't find my tuning pipes (may have to get some more since it's so long since I've had any need for them!) but I tuned it by ear and it sounds so... rich.

I think I love my guitar!

*grins* me too! I only just managed to convince myself to put it down long enough to go to sleep last night. I love my guitar!

1) Guitar? Yay!!!

2) Strings? The last owner probably didn't change strings before selling it, so you probably want to get a new set soon.

3) Guitar? Yay!!!

4) Pitch pipes are essentially little harmonicas. Ever heard of harmonica players like James Cotton and Junior Wells? They played harmonica and were able to bend notes by overblowing, thus playing crossharp. Same thing happens with pitch pipes. Electronic tuners are cheap and easy to use.

5) Guitar? Yay!!! What kind?

1) yay!

2) on it - heading out to an instrument supply shop in the morning to do just that.

3) yay!!

4) I was kinda thinking that myself, having a look around at some sites today I noticed the electronic tuners are nowhere near as pricey as I remember them being.

5) Yay!!! It's steel-string acoustic, actually to be precise it's a Wesley W30 Flameburst acoustic.

My Korg chromatic tuner is $20 at Musician's Friend, so you should be able to find something inexpensive that works. I'm getting into slide, so I use mine for alternate tunings, and it's also good for the mandolin and fiddle I have.

Awesome :o)

I'll be hitting you up for lessons if I ever get round to buying one myself.

You can get little keyring sized tuners nowadays - I think they were about £7 in our local music shop - but they look pretty useful and portable - I'm nagging Ben for one as they come in different versions for different instruments and there's a violin one.

Maybe we should meet up and try and figure out the FF theme tune now *G*

I'm heading out to a supply shop tomorrow, I will take a look-see when I'm there to see what they've got.

Y'know, I think there's a site somewhere with the sheet music not only for the Firefly theme, but also for the Ballad of Canton...
