Graphics joy!  
Finally I'm 100% happy with a plaque I made! Woo Hoo! Took me long enough! Only thing is, I still have so many left to make that I seriously doubt my self-imposed deadline for the announcements will be reached. I had hoped to have them all done and all the winners contacted by tonight. That's not going to happen unless someone somewhere invents some kind of time-stopping machine which has the added benefit of allowing me to work on without getting tired or frustrated at not being able to find the images I need. (Seriously - the folks over at Screencap Paradise apparently hate Xander, any Xander-centric episode usually has the smallest number of files and those that are there tend to be caps of every character but him! And FreezeFrame? Most of the sites housing the episodes I want are gone. I've been capping the scenes I want by myself now, but that depends on me remembering which episode has which scene and then where in the episode it occurs. Not as easy as you might think!)

Now I have a base template for the banners it should make things a lot easier - and potentially quicker. If the announcements are not made tonight (by midnight my time) I'm not going to knock myself out to get them done for tomorrow - instead I'll set a secondary deadline for Friday night.

*phew*

(and I will hide my Muse, Radiohead, old U2, Faith No More, Staind, Manic Street Preachers etc CDs so I don't get so down again tonight!)

Heh. I know what you mean about the fabulous missing Xander on a lot of screencap sites.

I have a new graphics program and I'm trying to teach myself how to make icons, but finding decent Xander ones are getting harder and harder.

I fully expect that 10 years from now, you'll be hardpressed to find any photographic evidence that Xander existed at all on the screencaps sites.

Really, I swear it's heading in that direction.

In all seriousness though, I say don't over-worry yourself or over-stress yourself on getting things out tonight or letting the winners know. Take care of yourself first. Everything else can wait.

Then again, don't listen to me. I'm probably the only person who's not stressing out about the WKA announcements. RL is stressing me enough. :-)

I'm thinking what I may end up doing is uploading all the caps I've taken so far onto my web server. I have a subsite (http://pics.moments-lost.co.uk) for screencaps, but I only have Pinata and some Doctor Who caps up there so far because up until this week I didn't think there was any need for the others since they were online elsewhere. Turns out they're not online any more so I may just have to put them there! (Although obviously not right now, 'cause hey, tiny bit busy doing other things... *g*)

How do you capture images from DVD?

Or rather...is there freeware or shareware that'll let you do it. *grins*

I use WinDVD for actual DVDs which I paid for, it was something like $40. But I've since found that BSPlayer lets you cap as well and it seems to be free, or at least... the copy I have was...

It's getting kinda ridiculous really - I understand when fic writers do it, because they all have their own agenda and that's cool. When sites that claim to be complete records of the show ignore a central character? Something's really wrong with the site's agenda.

I kind of know the group behind Screencap Paradise, my issues with some of them lead me to stop posting on a forum I was a regular at, so I shouldn't really be surprised I guess - it's just annoying.

Maybe somebody should set up a site that redresses the balance and doesn't ignore any character. Obviously somebody that's less busy than you, but if you know anybody that'd be willing to do it, it might be an idea.

Ahhh, yes. Screencap Paradise.

The Web site I went to to look for screencaps of BB&B. And as I scrolled through the selection, I said to myself:

"Self, BB&B was Xander-centric. If I go by these screencaps on the first four pages, I'd think that Terrible Trio of Angel, Spike, and Dru had more screentime. What. Tha. Fuck?"

Plus, I wonder about the quality.
