Thanks guys
Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jetpackmonkey [livejournal.com profile] rachelmap and [livejournal.com profile] invisionary - you guys have confirmed my suspicions about the purported plagiarism. For the moment I'm not going to treat it as plagiarism, it looks as though maybe he's read the original stories and the particular turns of phrase have stuck in his head so that he's ended up using them in his own stories.

I'm going to keep an eye on the whole thing though, and as with any other author if the charges do become more severe I'll be pulling the stories straight away.

Cheers!

Oh - knew there was something else I was going to say. There are very few entries for this week's [livejournal.com profile] zeppo_stillness, I know there was a problem with the screening comments thing, but still... any iconers on my flist? Go on, join up and enter - you know you want to!

[livejournal.com profile] jetpackmonkey pointed me your way. I just posted on my journal today about the author in question, so I thought I'd come on over and read what your thoughts were on the whole situation.

I'm in the camp that it's not really plagiarism, but will be keeping an eye on him myself. Burn me once and all that jazz. I've tried googling some phrases from other stories and haven't found anything, so it could perhaps just simply be an odd coincidence.

If it were anyone else I would have laughed the whole thing off as someone out to get a writer they're maybe a little jealous off. The fact that it's him, and that he has this track record of doing just what he's being accused of, made me step back and take it seriously.

I'm now in the camp that it's coincidence - that maybe he read these stories and the phrases stuck in his head so that he ended up recycling them without realising it. At least I hope that's what happened.

(hi, by the way! Feel free to drop by whenever you want!)
