Sunnuva.....
Is it possible to tear cartilage? I think I just did it - in my right shoulder. Hurts like a SOB and I can barely move my arm. I definitely heard a kind of tearing noise and now... lack of motion and pain.

And I have an hour’s drive ahead of me plus a full day of catching up on a week's worth of work.

Joy.

Ibuprofen here I come!

Sounds like maybe a torn rotator cuff. I had that happen to me and it hurt like the devil! The pain almost knocked me down!

that sounds painful. ooo lookit that, when I tried to type I got pins and needles all the way up my arm. That can't be good. (I'm now typing left handed by the way - makes it interesting.)

Would happen on the very morning I have to go back to work wouldn't it? :)

What makes me think that's what happened to you is that I also heard (and felt) the tearing you described and movement of any kind brought some heavy-duty agony! I think you need to head to a doctor...soon! Like maybe...first thing in the morning!

Hopefully when I get to work I can get into the student health building - it's not term time yet so if they're open they won't be busy. If they're open. The 'brufen seems to have helped a little but things definitely aren't right in there. At least it didn't happen on the way to Edinburgh last week!

Dammit there are too many roundabouts on my road to work!

Been to the doctor - they took a quick look, told me to take more anti-inflammatories and if it's still as sore by lunchtime to go back for an X ray. Joy.

If you think that you tore something, you should definitely get to a doctor asap.

I've seen the nurse this morning and if it's still as bad by lunchtime I've to go back to get an X Ray. Hopefully it'll calm down by then, but driving was definitely not a good thing!

I'm sending you mental vicodin for the pain, I have almost a full bottle of it that needs to be used up soon. Though when I used it, the pain didn't seem to lessen much, but it made me feel nice. So that's what I'm wishing you.

Less pain and feelings of niceness. As everyone else has said, get to a Doctor as soon as possible.

Sweetie! You're back!

Thanks for the virtual painkillers - here's hoping they make a difference!

Only for two weeks unfortunately.

I really miss you! I emailed you about a month ago but I think it was to an old email account.

Those painkillers better be helpful to someone! There's no one who's day I'd rather make better than yours.

Ice. Ice is one of the best anti-inflammatories known to man. my orthopedist told me not to leave an ice pack on for longer than 20 minutes, it's that effective. His rule of thumb was 20 on (at most) and 20 off.

Hope your shoulder is at least feeling better, and if it wasn't then you went back and got it x-rayed.
