painkillers and ice are amazing things!
Thanks for the tip about the ice [livejournal.com profile] rachelmap - I never usually leave ice on for longer than a couple of minutes at a time so leaving it on a little longer really did seem to make a difference.

By lunchtime my shoulder wasn't as painful so I decided against going for an X Ray (mostly because I have better things to do with my time than hang about for four hours at a time waiting for the NHS to get their act together - I love our health service, I'm very aware of how lucky I am to live in a country which has a national public health service like this, but I'm still not a fan of hospital waiting rooms.) If it gets worse, or if it doesn't get better, I will go back, for now though I'm going to go on swallowing 'brufen repeatedly. Plus I'm not driving for a couple of days - although admittedly the reason for that is that I'm heading through to Edinburgh again tomorrow night - but the break from those damn roundabouts might help ease up my shoulder a little.

Anyways, it's my nephew's third birthday today and I've been invited to his birthday tea. At 8 o'clock tonight. Kinda late for a birthday 'tea' but never mind... I asked him what he wanted for his birthday and after the repeated insistance that he wanted a Scooby Doo cake, he informed me in all seriousness that he wanted either a Dalek or a Lightsaber. Yup, definitely a relative of mine! So I'm off soon to go give him the lightsaber I managed to find for him. It'll be fun to see how much damage he can cause with a three foot long piece of plastic. :)

Happy birthday to your nephew.

I'm glad your shoulder's feeling a little better, but if it gets in any way worse then I'd suggest (read as constantly get on at you until you do) going to get an x-ray.

I hurt my shoulder back in April... and it's still about the same level of hurt. I'm just used to it (and it's not that bad, I'm not stopped from doing anything other than throwing my arm straight up above my head quickly). Shoulders are weird things. I guess hips would be the same thing -- ball and socket joint and all that -- but I've never hurt a hip before.

Hope you feel better soon. There are some people trapped on an island in your brain and they need stuff to do!

There are some people trapped on an island in your brain and they need stuff to do! Heh! They (and others) are being so demanding that I'm pretty much typing left handed for now just to stop them sulking in my brain.

:)

Take care of yourself, don't let it get worse. IMO of course.
But then again, I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to health issues, so grain of salt and all that. As long as you feel okay.

And happy birthday to the youngling. :)

It's a little better this morning - so hopefully it wasn't an actual tear or anything, more overstretching something. Either that or I've taken too many painkillers!

Fingers crossed it keeps on improving like this! (Going to a gig tonight - I'll need to make sure I'm careful not to do anything stupid!)

Ouch. Hope this clears up, and do see a doc if it continues. *hugs*

It's getting a little better as time goes on - hopefully just resting it and taking the anti-inflammatories will do the trick!

I hope the shoulder gets better soon. There was a wee boy in the shop yesterday who had a plastic blue lightsaber, very glad that there aren't breakable things on display *g*.

My 19 month old niece decided it was the best thing she'd ever seen and then decided to hit me on the head with it. The joys of having young kids in the family... :)

Hope your shoulders feeling better Sho.

pity you didn't know 'bout the lightsaber earlier though - I could've seen if I could've nabbed one of the props from the show?

S'cool - thanks anyway though!

I'm glad the ice seems to be helping, and I hope you're being careful with the ibuprophen. Too much of that cann have some bad side effects.

Word about living in a country with a National Health Service! I've lived in two countries with socialized medicine (Japan and here in Korea), and I don't see how those poor folks back in the USA can stand that mess they've got. I really don't. :-(
