My brain is officially broken.
Listening to Michael Parkinson's Sunday Supplement on Radio Two. Parky plays jazz classics. It's his thing, and it's much appreciated most of the time. This morning he broke my brain.

Paul Anka.

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I kid you not.

My brain's broken...

ETA It has to be heard to be believed

What makes it worse, when I was looking for the track so I could share it with you all I found his version of "Black Hole Sun" as well.

I think I need to go crawl into a corner until this nightmare ends...

I would say it's really not worth listening to, but on the other hand it really is one of those things that you have to hear to believe so...

I'm afraid so. I thought the Calling version of London Calling was bad... this? Actually goes right the way through bad and comes out the other side.

We had a comedy musician in the UK a few years ago called Mike Flowers, he did cheesy cover versions of Oasis songs in such a way that it was clear it was a joke, it was kinda kooky and fun. This, on the other hand, Mr Anka seems to be doing it in all seriousness...

*headdesk*

At least when Pat Boone did his heavy metal cover album, he had a sense of humour about himself! Paul ANKA??????? YIKES!!!! I am almost too scared to listen! But I think I will when I get back from the grocery store!

Wrong on soooo many levels really. I've just added the entire track list of his album to the post so you can see what other classics he's 'reworked'. The thought of them is just.... wrong. Apart from the Pet Shop Boys one. Heh!

Oh dear, that's awful :(
Step away from the rock classics!
