*note to self*  
Don't call the police out to investigate your neighbour's house alarm going off whilst downloading TV shows via Bit Torrent...

Just got to see a bit of real life drama there - my neighbours across the road are on holiday and the alarm just went off in their house. For ages. So I called the police, I don't know if it was the right thing to do or not but I didn't know what else to do. I got to see covert police ops there - fun! Of course, 'cause I live in a village with no police station any more the people who were in the house were gone a few minutes before the cops arrived but still... I got their license plate number and gave it to the police along with my details. I'm going to look like an idiot if it was my neighbour's son who just forgot the alarm code aren't I?

Yeah but in that type of case, I think it'd be better to be safe than sorry. Especially if the alarm has been going off for ages.

That's what was going through my mind the whole time I was talking to the police. I did actually phone my neighbour's number even though I knew they weren't there - figured if it was their family then they'd maybe pick up, but no one did. It was kinda freaky and made me make sure I locked my door tonight - something I don't always do.

I know so many people who don't do that and it just creeps me out to hear.

It really is a tiny village I live in - and it's only when I'm in the house that I don't always lock it. Although saying that there have been times I've gone out in the morning and found I've left my car unlocked all night.

I should really be more careful about things like that I guess.

I can totally understand that perspective.

I know friends where I live who don't lock their doors at all and that really creeps me out.

*blushes* they're such nice people - they take care of my dog when I'm at work - that I'd hate to think of anything happening to their house that I could have prevented. I wish I could say I'd be as vigilant about the guy through the wall who plays the Bee Gees and Phil Collins at insanely high volumes!

Hey, no one would be vigilant about a Phil Collins fan. But then again, who'd want to rob his house? What kind of taste would he have?
