I'm something of a layout fanatic myself, as you've probably noticed in the last few weeks. I used boxer quite a lot and I preferred aeval's Simple Boxer code when I did. Lost of tweakage gives you a rather interesting LJ.

My all time favorite boxer layout was on blimey_icons journal last time I checked, in fact, although I'm not sure if he used the Simple Boxer code or did it entirely himself.

For sidebar thingies though, Boxer is not the way to go.

My all time favorite so far is Tranquility 2. It doesn't look like much, but it is one of the most 'tweakable' of the bunch. There are ways to add user icons to each post, to add pic-links to the sidebar and whatnot, all through custom styles of course, and it's all pretty clearly set up. I'm still working on mine, sure, but I already like the way it's going.

But there are so many more possibilities to play around with that I might never be done. Take a look here to see what I mean. That's just one example but it is quite delicious, I think. If the side bar issues are really a problem for you, and you want to be able to have icons with each post, then Tranquility 2 is a good compromise.

_zeppogirl does look pretty hot though, I have to admit :)

Thanks for the tip - I may just have a play around with Tranquility 2 to see what I come up with. It really is just as well I have no life! (and I did go back and snag an icon btw - thanks!)

And what about, warnings for characters? When you really, really hate a character?

And I got the Operative on the test. Dunno if that's good or bad, on account of my not seeing Serenity yet state. But from what I saw of the trailer, I must be a evil guy. :)

I think I was laughing too hard to check if canon slash was in there - but it would be something one could complain about if it wasn't!

Cos' it makes all kind of sense in wanting to read fanfiction of a series you hate. - there's plenty fic out there written by people who hate the series... not that I'm mentioning any names or thinking about a certain group of people who post at the a militantly het-only Xander yahoo group... *grin*

Oh, yeah. I've lost count on the number of fics I've began to read, only to stop when I can't really find any of the characters there.

But I guess there's that kind of fic for every character. Like those Unsouled!Saint!Spike.

Now you gotta excuse me, cos' I gotta go finish my Cowboy!Xander saves Damsel!Faith who's been tied up by Landlord!Spike in the railroad tracks. The train's coming, see, and the suspense is killing me. :)
