I'm intrigued
Did this make international news? - if so, what's your reaction to it? If not - what do you think about it on reading it?

(The story is of an 82 year old member of the Labour Party who was manhandled out of the party's conference yesterday after he called out "Nonsense" during Jack Straw's speech about the occupation of Iraq.)

Can't say that I'd heard of it.

And I'm not sure what I think of it. Manhandling 82 year olds is never good, particularly for public image.

One things for sure, such a thing wouldn't have happened in America, not with the checks they have in place (security and doctrinal). It's nice that in the UK political atendees get to keep their brains, even if they get thrown out for it.

Not sure on how such a thing would have been resolved over here, the only thing similar that I can remember concerned Communist Party members, and they weren't allowed to speak, but, then again, our Communist Party seems to think the Soviet Union is still around, so ...

And huh, I'm not stalking you. Really. :)
It's just that I really don't have much to do right now, so, LJ refreshing is kinda an obsession. :)

I love the world we live in. In a sick, sad kind of way, it really makes me want to laugh.

An 82 year old security risk, requiring burly security personnel to haul him bodily out of the room because Jack Straw is too insecure to stand up to a bit of criticism? LOL. Seriously funny. I hope Walter Wolfgang gets a lot of mileage out of this.

It just shows how the world is changing now. Or maybe not. Maybe it's just that the blinkers have finally come off *feels strangely melancholy*

And did you get the bit where he was detained under the terrorism act??? I mean WTF?

Hopefully something as ridiculous as this will wake people up a bit.
