Africander update
Still waaaay behind right now! Finishing my own entries before I read anyone elses so I'll be a little slow on the feedback front for a day or so. I'm still hoping to have at least part of something posted for both countries before the deadline but all I can say right now is an echo of [livejournal.com profile] iyalode's "thank god for the time differential"! Morocco is spiralling out of control and Tunisia is laughing at me from my notes... Oh, and the Morocco fic? Xander's not in it yet. *sigh* A Xander-centric story with no Xander, that works, no - really. </sarcasm>

And apparently all the 2005 Usage Stats have to not only be downloaded but also manipulated by the end of today. I only found this out this morning. Oh and access to the 'Nature' titles has apparently gone down. Again. So although I am sneaking in some writing at work, I also have actual work to do as well...

Gah!

Orson Welles is often thought to be the star of "The Third Man" even though he doesn't show up until the last third of the film, because the first 2/3rds of the movie is filled with people talking about his character.

heh! That would work if Anika knew who he was before he appears... *g*

It's an odd format, this story, in that it's actually more than one story interweaving all the time - he is definitely there, and will eventually show up in Anika's narrative, it's just... bit-part characters who were supposed to be the equivalent of extras have suddenly become central characters in their own right and exploring their story is prlonging the length of time without an appearance by Mr Harris. *g*

I always wanted to write a fanfic like The Third Man. The issue is, you have to aim it just right, or you get disappointment.

I hate when the characters take over the fic. I mean, I love it, but sometimes I wished they'd just behave and let me tell the story.

My Mali fic? Xander doesn't even show until page 150.

I win. :-)
