The Lesson from the weekend
never, ever make plans. Ten minutes after I posted my to-do-list (which was completely do-able), the phone rang.

"Shona? You know how you offered to babysit this weekend?"
"Um, I said 'sometime soon' but yes?"
"Oh, can you do it today?"
*headdesk*

I did offer so it would have been churlish of me to refuse. So Saturday was spent babysitting, Sunday was spent catching up with housework and writing when I got a chance, Monday was filled with me coming into work late and realising that I'd saved the fic in the wrong format on my memory stick so I can't do any work on it...

I may be going home in half an hour, just waiting to hear from my boss about postponing our 'chat' this afternoon, so I can catch up this afternoon/evening.

Not making plans, honest, but I will have something posted this evening - I suck at life.

Heh! I used the word *churlish* - that's so not a me word!

You don't suck, take that back!

And to cheer you up I just read that Christian Kane's new series, Close To Home, is on Living TV tonight at 10pm. Of course this doesn't cheer me up since NTL once again failed to connect me to the real world of phones and television on Saturday. It's now exactly one month since they were first supposed to come and visit and get me all wired up! I no longer know anything about any of the non-terrestrial tv series I was watching in December and I'm behind on the new seasons that started this month:( I'm getting a bit out of the loop on terrestrial stuff too as the aerial on the house doesn't work. My one thought from all of this: All hail the inventors of dvd and video players!

I suck. *g* Didn't manage to post anything last night because I had an attack of the "this is all crap!" anxiety so I'm going to badger Monkey at work to look at it for me today. *g*

Oh, and my Sky box wasn't getting a signal last night, at the time I thought it was just 'cause it was windy but now I remember that I cancelled the credit card I paid it on so maybe they've cut me off... joy. I have the first ep of CTH downloaded, I've not watched it yet though - heard a lot of not very good things about it and he's only in each episode for at most five minutes so... *g*

EW, babysitting.

But bonus points for reviving the lovely and evocative word "churlish."

Luckily I only really had two of the three to contend with at any one time because my Nephew 1 would be having a nap while Niece and Nephew 2 were awake, then Nephew 1 would wake up and Niece would go for a nap. Shame they couldn't all nap together and then I could've got some writing done... *g*

(and somehow, despite me being logged in, LJ isn't recognising me. Joy)

I fear children, so I don't envy you the babysitting duty.

LJ is being weird.

{{{Hugs}}}

Miss you.

Have a lot to tell you.

Um, what the heck does churlish mean?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on January 24th, 2006 12:44 am (UTC)
Miss you too - are you around tonight or tomorrow? We really need to catch up!

Churlish: adj 1: rude and boorish 2: having a bad disposition; surly.

Childish, rude, petulant - everything that was going through my head at the time but which I managed to somehow filter out before I spoke... *g*
