I have no TV. I live in a valley so the only real way I can get reception is through my Sky set-top box. It aint working. I spent 97 minutes on the phone to them yesterday trying to get it sorted and it's stil not done. *sigh*

I'm kinda in a hurry tonight - not a lot of time at all really - so thank you for your comments, I will reply as soon as I have time to draw breath! In the meantime:

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftan o' the puddin' race,
aboon them a' ye tak' your place,
               Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace,
              As lang's my arm.

Yes, tonight is Burn's night. And I have no Haggis, so instead I will leave you with this, not my favourite Burn's song/poem, but perhaps one of the better known ones:

Is there for honest poverty
That hings his head, an' a' that?
The coward slave, we pass him by -
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, an' a' that!
Our toils obscure, an' a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.

What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey an' a' that?
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine
A man's a man for a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
Their tinsel show, an' a' that,
The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor,
Is king o' men for a' that.

Ye see yon birkie ca'd 'a lord',
Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that?
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a cuif for a' that,
For a' that, an' a' that,
His ribband, star, an' a' that,
The man o' independent mind,
He looks an' laughs at a' that.

A prince can mak a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, an' a' that!
But an honest man's aboon his might -
Guid faith, he mauna fa' that!
For a' that, an' a' that,
Their dignities, an' a' that,
The pith o' sense an' pride o' worth
Are higher rank than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that)
That Sense and Worth o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree an' a' that,
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's comin yet for a' that,
That man to man the world oe'r
Shall brithers be for a' that.

Sorry about the TV issue! You seem to be having more than your share of problems lately!

*g* yeah, it never rains...

Still, it's not been so bad - my friend [livejournal.com profile] engelsteorra loaned me the Gilmore Girls season three DVDs and I'm heading out to a Burn's Supper tonight (in... wow, half an hour - I should get dressed!) so I've not really missed the TV apart from as background noise!

That's good that you've got some fun DVD's to watch and that you have a nifty outing tonight!

oohhh, Are you getting 'No satellite signal is being recieved' on your screen? Coz that's what has happened to mine :( Seems a lot of people are having issues with it at the moment though.

Yup - that's it exactly! The trees are growing kinda high behind the house so I was going to go attack them with an axe on Saturday, but is that the same problem you had? Iy was Monday night it started with me - was fine at lunchtime when I had it on, then I switched it off and slept for a while and when I went to switch it back on about 7ish that was all I was getting. I had to update my payment details though so at first I thought they'd cut me off for a missed payment but apparently not. Lemme know if yours gets fixed!

I've had to call an engineer out. I'd had a look on Sunday on the sky website and tried all the stuff they suggested there to no avail.
From what I can gather either the dish has been moved or there is something wrong with the sky box :(
It's costing me £65 for the privilege too :(

Gah! Hopefully cutting the trees will make a difference then! I've got tomorrow afternoon off now, so maybe I can get it done then.

grrr

Sho and Smilawhile, take my advice, no matter how bad Sky gets, don't consider switching to NTL. My feelings towards them are so extreme today I'm even thinking of updating my LJ to get it off my chest!:)

Heh! You've been to my house, you know I live in the back of beyond, cable? Not likely!

*g*

I sent you an email yesterday - did you get it? :)

I did indeedy, it's grumpy inducing:( I have a feeling that mine and AC's Hyperion dvds may have 'disappeared' in the post - something I will hopefully be able to find out for sure tonight after I get in touch with my ex-landlady (now that I have a phone). I wonder how Sean will take hearing that £75 of Serenity dvds have disappeared too? To be fair, the Serenity dvds sent to AC's address were ordered some days before the ones ordered at Serenity Squared, but the Serenity cheque was cashed first and when I asked about the Hyperion dvds Sean did seem to give the impression that all outstanding dvds had been sent out. Ah well, I'll check the situation with the Hyperion dvds first, and then I'll start hounding him about the Serenity ones.
