This is just hilarious - the BBC Scotland commentary has now finished and I'm watching the BBC England commentary - it's all postmortem stuff rather than celebration.
England are ultimately known as a better team (they're currently world champions), but this interactive thing I'm watching right now is all "What positives can England take from this game?" maybe the fact that the BBC are kinda biases...
Sorry, just got distracted by 'my boy Chris' being interviewed there - apparently he's planning on a quiet night with "a crossword and a novel" tonight... Heh!
I cannot put into words how over the moon I am right now!
The first international match I watched was a Calcuta Cup match at Murrayfield. (Scotland's home ground). Scotland won. It hooked me into rugby and since then I've been an avid fan, even thought Scotland have not been wonderful since then (or Melrose - my Union team). This? Is a good day!
(and I apologise to all the English people on my flist, but hey, we don't win all that often... although in the future? Watch out!)
O Flower of Scooootland! When will we see Your likes again? That fought and diieeeed for Yer wee bit hill and glen And stood against them Proud Edwards's aaaaaaarmy And sent them hooomewards Tae think again!
Those days are gone now... And in the past They must remain (mumbles incoherantly cause no one remembers this line) And be a nation again And stood agains him (gainst who?) Proud Edward's army And sent them hamewards Tae think again!
I did find myself wondering if you were watching (not really my cup of tea (more a league girl, but even then I'm not really into that) - but there was nothing else on so Ben was watching it).
Well done to Scotland though.
On a slightly related point - should the British Winter Olympics team have been renamed the Scottish team - it seems the majority of our competitors were from your side of the border.
See, I've never really gotten into League, it just seems too stop/start to me (although clearly on that insane levels of American Football!)
I think I have now broken the jinx and can happily watch the games now! I must say, I would have loved to have been at Murrayfield yesterday! Apparently my niece was watching it avidly as well, when she's old enough I'll take her to a game I think. :)
John & I were sitting in the hikers bar drinking very fine beverages, in the lakes, listening to the game (TV round the corner in the smokers section). I said to John 'wonder if Sho watched and broke the jinx?'
I guess you did. Sounds like it was a long time coming.
