my brain hurts...
I'm writing crack!fic. Why am I writing crack!fic when I have a zillion other things to write? 'Cause if I don't my brain will melt and leak out of my ears which won't be fun for anyone.

*looks at Word doc open on desktop*
*reads a couple of lines*
*shakes head in denial*

I did not just write that...

*g*

(will post it later, possibly much later, when I can run away from the internet saying "It wasn't me!!" *g*)

Crack!fic? What be this?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 12:42 pm (UTC)
*g* in this case it's an insane crossover that will probably only appeal to me (and maybe one other person)...

And snarky characters abound...
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 12:47 pm (UTC)
I mean, is Crack!fic some sort of genre, or are you referring to a particular show or... (confused)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 12:49 pm (UTC)
Genre in a way. Basically an idea from so far out there that the person who thought it up must have been on crack when inspiration struck.
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 12:54 pm (UTC)
Hah! Look forward to seeing that then.

Er... I take it you weren't actually on crack when inspiration struck were you? *g*
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 12:55 pm (UTC)
*checks ingredients of new pills*

y'know... I don't actually know...

*g*
[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 01:53 pm (UTC)
Come on, spill!

It's Dean and what else?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 01:57 pm (UTC)
And the reason you assume it's Dean is because...?

*g*
[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:20 pm (UTC)
All your latest fan posts seem to include a variation on the "Oh Dean!" theme?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:21 pm (UTC)
*sheepish grin*

but...

actually, yeah, that's kinda true isn't it?

Doesn't mean this is about Dean though. Or even about SPN. *g*

Have you ever read the adventures of Fairy!Spike, PeterPan!Buffy, CptHook!Xander and Aligator!Caleb?

No?

That's Crack!Fic. :D
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 01:56 pm (UTC)
*hides from the memory of the Hedgehog!Spike/Frog!Xander fic she saw once*

Now *that* was Crack!Fic...
[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:20 pm (UTC)
A French Xander? :D
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:22 pm (UTC)
I wish. That way it might not have been quite so... extremely twisted and just wrong.

*g*
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:39 pm (UTC)
Eeeeeeeeep! Freaky!

Where can I find such a prodigy?
[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:45 pm (UTC)
Good god! Nowhere. I hope.

But you can find loads of Wee!Fairy!Spike. And Unicorn!Spike. And "Xander is a Roman general tasked with defeating the barbarian general Angelus, will true love blossom, OMG" and other "Dude, I want some of what this writer was smoking, that's some good shit!" fic.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:48 pm (UTC)
See all the Roman fic I've seen has been Spander with poor little Spikey being the slave of the ultimately good-hearted Alexander... There's Xangel ones as well?

or, y'know, the allegedly B/X one over at INAP that so clearly is an original piece of... writing with a couple of Buffyverse characters thrown in so that he can post it on a fanfic site...

Never has my WTF icon been more appropriate...

[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 02:59 pm (UTC)
I just assume there are. I know there's Aztec fic... I think.

But it is possible to write a time displaced Scoobies fic without it turning into crack fic, while Scoobies as people in other time period usually turns into crack.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 03:12 pm (UTC)
*nods*

I think it's the core difference between an Alternate Universe (known characters appear in another 'verse) and an Alternate Reality (characters who may have some of the traits of the known characters are Roman citizens or whatever). I like AUs, I avoid ARs mostly.

Oh, THAT guy. Mr. "My fanfic is an epic masterpiece of the ages because clearly I'm a writing god" Guy. Mr. "You know, your story didn't completely suck; fortunately, I'm here to point out to you the ninety percent that you need to completely rewrite" Review Writing Guy. Mr. "Let me kill two kill two birds with one stone by making snide comments about the site owner while simultaneously demanding that people write fic about a random 'ship of my choosing" Guy.

Considering how long since he's updated his Roman Master(bation)piece, I think it's safe to assume that he's one of those guys who talks a good game, but fails to deliver when it counts. And probably not just when it comes to writing fanfic.

*checks pants to confirm that I'm, yes, still a guy* I"m not normally this bitchy, I swear....
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 10th, 2006 08:33 am (UTC)
Heh! Yup, THAT guy. He used to email me quite a lot to tell me when there was something wrong with the site - although, his definition of something wrong actually quite often involved someone posting something he didn't approve of - but he seems to have disappeared since the changeover to moderated. I'd almost be tempted to believe in coincidences at that...

My interpretation was "the kind of fic that reading it is like smoking crack". Except with less negative side effects.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 01:56 pm (UTC)
Perfect definition - thank you!
[identity profile] velvetwhip.livejournal.com on October 9th, 2006 05:37 pm (UTC)
I don't think I have ever written crack!fic...does it hurt?

Heh! Only in my sides from laughing as I was writing it...
