Mysterious coding errors. The world clearly hates you *nods*

Incidentally, liz_marcs posted a question over at inapadmin that I thought I should point out.

Far as I can tell, next week is hers and then... Um... What's the rota after that? If things are all ironed out now, I don't want to rock the boat barging my way back in or anything. But if you could use the extra help, I'm here, okay?

I was planning on drawing a new rota up for all four of us on Friday but got kinda... distracted to put it mildly. I'm taking a quick break from staring at single and double quote marks, curly brackets and semi-colons to draw one up and will post it the admin comm once it's done.

Do you mind coming back and doing a week at a time as it was before? If you'd rather sit on the bench, as it were, that's fine, but it would be great to balance things out with four of us. (Although of course there's now the possibility that there would be a 'draw' in the case of a disagreement...)

As for the draw thing, you're the site owner, so you get the deciding vote. Simple :)

Some compilers are single minded about splitting loops and such. I've not used PHP but I had a Basic compiler once that if you wrote:
IF (expression) THEN (statement) END
would read it as:
IF (expression)
THEN
(statement)
END
and report errors as if it were four lines instead of one.

I'm trying to see if it's calling on another document and the error's in that document's line 493. It shouldn't be, and I've gone over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb and can't see the problem. So it might be that the server is reading it with a 'word-wrap' and knocking things onto more lines than it should.
I'm taking a break from it for the moment, planning to come back to it with fresh eyes in a couple of hours. :)

If you have a header file that may be the problem, although I'd normally expect a compiler to treat them separately. But then I've never worked with PHP.

No header file in this one, it is calling on another php file but that one has even fewer lines on it.

It's a background/admin type file that's really just there to make it easier for me to tally the votes so I can go ahead with the voting page at midnight and spend some time over the next couple of weeks tearing the problem one apart to see where the issue is.

I think I could cope with that arrangement :o).
