okay, I have the best neighbours
So I was planning on going across to my neighbour's house after lunch to test the waters about the fence issue and then there was a knock at my door at 10.30 this morning. He's a really nice guy and seemed to have been more worried that my car might have been damaged than anything else. And he's a Star Wars geek. (I'm wearing a SW t-shirt today, we got talking about it). He's propped up the fence so it doesn't fall over any more and make it worse, he's going to have a go at fixing it this week and - surprisingly enough - he asked if I'd be interested in selling some of my land to him. Remember I said it was an odd shape? He wants to look into straightening the lines. So we're going to investigate it, I don't know if I'll end up doing it because it might reduce the value of my property more than I would gain by selling it, but at the moment it's wasted ground so it might be worth it.

And my other neighbour came across to tell me my car was still fine, in case I'd heard the noise their carport was making in the winds last night.

I kinda have the best neighbours, just a shame about the guy in the house on the other side of my wall, with his boyband music playing at stupid volumes at stupid o'clock. Just as well I'm a rock chick and can retaliate. Loudly. :)

(finally watched SPN Hunted. Have thoughts which I might manage to put into a seperate post soon. And I got zero writing done yesterday 'cause sis asked for help getting her shopping and I ended up there until about 9pm last night, so the Faith fic is going to take longer than I hoped for, sorry!)

I'm really lucky to have such great neighbours who do actually look out for me. The guy who in the past I've called Mr Numpty (numpty is an insult - kinda like calling someone an idiot) is going to give me 'mate's rates' on a new wrought iron gate to replace the broken one, he owns the house across from me but doesn't actually live there.

(Did I miss your birthday by the way? Sorry! Happy Belated Birthday!)

Thank you for the birthday wishes! My birthday was indeed yesterday.

Yay for Mr. Numpty!

I'll make a fanboy out of you yet...

*g*

The quality of the episodes of S2 has been consistently great, there's one episode that a lot of people are 'meh' about (s'called No Exit) but I actually really like it, I think it works really well in connection with the rest of the season. About which I am going to be writing up a meta-type post just as soon as I get the next part of my Faith fic written. *nods*

Oh! Oh! And they played Muse in the soundtrack of the latest episode!

One more reason to bounce!

He sounds like a nice person and his offer to buy the land may well be genuine but check the zoning situation with your local council first. I was approached by my neighbour at the rear with a similar offer to sell him a small strip of my back yard. He put it forward as simply being that he wanted to have a larger pool (and it may have been that) but it turned out when I checked the block sizes with the council that it would have made the difference for him of his block being large enough to rebuild with a duplex on it, whereas for me it would have been the opposite if I'd gone ahead with it. Note that I'm not saying he's not sincere, just check carefully first.

I know that the woman who sold the house to my mum years ago had applied for council permission to split the property (essentially meaning that there would be three plots where there are currently two) but was refused. They might be more willing to split it now since it's normalising the property lines with the rest of the street. It would be a significant amount of property loss to me, there is enough to build a small house there, and with this guy being a builder I have no doubt he's thinking along those lines, but I can always block planning permission in the future if it came to it.
