I love kids. No really.
One thing about the local library is that they let little kids in. And little kids tend to not have volume control. Or any concept of personal space. Luckily I'm on the saught-after computer 1 which is kinda round the corner a little from the rest, but the kids that have just walked in? Are annoying even me.

Plus? a guy just stood up and knocked over a shelf. Full of reference pamphlets. As the bloke just said "Ooops".

So, I'm here again and I still haven't heard from my former employers as to when I can expect my P45 so I'm still money-less. I'm about to go up and see if I can cadge some money off my sister (cadge = con/borrow/get) to buy some fruit/veg. I'm feeling decidedly on the verge of scurvy right now.

I'm determined not to get down now - I was feeling lousy this morning and then I got a text message which made me grin. [livejournal.com profile] emporpheus - she whose name causes planets to align is doing better but still has no money in her phone to reply. She apologises profusely but thanks you for making her smile.

Plus? There's another kid in the library who's being really well behaved and seems to be called Xander. Hee! (I've spotted him - he's adorable! And inordinantly intrigued by the automatic doors...awww!)

So what have I been doing in the past couple of days? Well mostly I have been watching films. Star Wars I, II and III (I get the whole Obidala thing now - I'm even kinda tempted to write some myself...) and Blade Trinity was on TV last night which meant I had to watch 1 and 2 before it started. Today it may be time for SW IV, V and VI - or maybe something else. Hell I might even do something productive like write or icon or maybe even something else.

There's still no sign of a job right now, it's not going to be easy anyway because I'm not going to have a reference or anything but I'll get there.

It was my eldest nephew's sixth birthday last weekend - sister organised an amazing party again (she really should do it professionally, she's bloody good at it) and it was pirate themed. I dressed up (got compliments too) and when I was helping pack up the stuff into a friends car to take back to the house a guy walked up behind me and said "Aye, this would be a great wee village if it wasn't for all the pirates". Scared the crap out of me!

Wow - I waffle on a lot on this thing don't I? Guess it comes from not actually getting to talk to human beings for the most part.

Anyways - I'm going to head to the shop to buy some milk and see whether toothpaste or bicarb of soda will fit into my £2.80 budget.

Please to be linking me?

*hugs*

I have no links (I have, urm, six half finished fics which is most unlike me, but I'll get them done - eventually).

Right, so Ruth's up next weekend, so I'll come get you and feed you vegetables. Also toothpaste if you so desire, but I'm figuring you're not seven. Make sure you've got an uptodate script, and can be out the house for like a week.

Take up Robyn's offer, btw, D&I are definitely going, V probably is, so there'll be floors, and we can totally get you the bus for your birthday :). Actually it's dirt cheap, took absolutley no thought at all and would therefore be a crap present, but hey ho ;P. Better than socks. Food isn't liable to be an issue, I wouldn't have thought... Unless you're gonig to be in abroad. Obviously.

Ooooh! I know. I can totally bore you to tears with tales of my adorable J2 sims. They're married (Jensen wouldn't put out until they got engaged) and have a kid (they both decided they wanted to adopt right after they got married), Jensen's entirely the responsible adult, Jared plays in the bath and pretends he's a pirate and bounces on the couch with Chad (who Jensen hates :)). They're like a build your own schmoopy RPS.

Got toothpaste, having four younglings in the family (yeah... I may be watching too much SW) means they get freebies when they go to the dentist and there's a stockpile in sister's house. It may be "very mild mint" flavoured but it's got wads of flouride in it and it's free so...

Dunno if I'm going to be in abroad though - it costs a scary amount to renew my passport so...

Jared's a pirate? Okay...
wenchpixie: j2 hug (anim)[personal profile] wenchpixie on September 5th, 2008 01:56 pm (UTC)
Well, no, he just likes to pretend... He's the Sim I'd like to be re-incarnated as, I think :), He works out a lot, plays with the baby and Chad, visits all the neighbours, and Jensen goes out to work and keeps house. Oh, and plays the piano. He's taken to doing that any time Chad is there so he can ignore him. Jared, give him is due, stands and watches and claps, so he's at least supportive.

Free toothpaste FTW :)(is there such a thing as too much sw? I think not) and yeah, being a girl sucks anyway without the added bonus of costing a damn fortune (and hormones are truly magical, too)

Milk is always good, and I've been waxing lyrical about carrots all week (it's my topic-of-the-week apparently. D@work lets me know what I've been banging on about).

I was thinking, given you starving is a very bad plan (we don't like that, really), D and I would happily get you a tesco delivery, if you give me a list and a few suitable time slots? Could get you girl things and soap and batteries and that kind of thing, too?

Hee! Your Sims sound adorable! (I take it the previous lot have been... sidelined?)

To be fair, the free toothpaste is in return for me loaning the eldest nephew my Indy DVDs which no doubt will come back covered in sticky fingerprints just like my Spiderman one did...

Carrots are awesome. One can freeze fresh ones, right?

*hugs* I can't ask you to do that for me - the offer is much appreciated, but I'll be okay.
wenchpixie: geekery dean[personal profile] wenchpixie on September 5th, 2008 02:17 pm (UTC)
Yes, you can freeze them. They might be better blanched first, but I've done them from raw and they were alright.

You're not asking, I'm offering (or, possibly, insisting) - there's a world of difference. Call it an early Christmas present if it helps; something to get you over the hump.

So, missy, list and suitable times, please. *pokes with sticks*

Yeah, the previous lot are languishing on my laptop for the moment and I'll probably bin them altogether and call it "getting used to what one can do" :).

*hugs you tight*

I'll make up a list and email it to you over the weekend, okay? (I'll either be back at the library tomorrow or I'll steal some time on Sis's laptop on Sunday). You've seen my big stock-pot, right? I have that full of broth right now (which would be Scotch Broth if I hadn't made it from ham bones rather than mutton) and I have some bolognese sauce that sis had leftover (she always makes too much and for the past couple of weeks she's been freezing the leftovers and giving me them) so I'll be fine for a little bit.

Make sure you do :). I'll be all grumbly and naggy otherwise and that's no good for anyone :).

Good, glad to hear you won't starve, meantime :D.

I wish I lived near you...I hate that you're low on food and such! I am rooting for you and holding good thoughts.

If you're after some feel-good fic then try [livejournal.com profile] amberfocus's "A Sky Without Zepplins". This is a WiP (but she updates every few days!) where the 10th Doc decided to keep Rose with him and so human!Doc10.5 has been put, minus his memories of who he was, into a universe containing a Rose who's never met her Doctor and is still a shop-girl (well sort of). The romance where they meet and fall in love is just so well captured that I defy anyone to read it and not walk away grinning like a fool. Plus Donna's in it too! And the voices are amazingly good.

Sorry for the mass type emailing thing but I want to get this to as many of you as possible. I went back a few entries to it's less likely that [livejournal.com profile] charmax will actually see this.

I'm putting together, in conjunction with [livejournal.com profile] ch_wg, a prezzie for [livejournal.com profile] charmax's wedding. I'm putting together a goofy dance video for part of the present and I wanted to use pictures from her friends saying congrats. How much you're actually in the picture is up to you. I know some of you are fiercely private so you don't have to be in the picture yourself. Take a picture of your dog with a sign in front of him that says "Congrats from (your username)" or what have you. Just so long as it says who it's from so that she'll know who's sending the love I don't care what you put on it. If you want to photoshop something feel free to do so. PLEASE make sure your image is horizontal. I can play with it so far as sizing but horizontal will definitely help me with sticking it in the video.

REMEMBER... this is a secret so no snitching. If you want to post something like this on your journal (with [livejournal.com profile] charmax filtered, of course) that would be great.

I need the picture(s) by this Sunday October 12th. Email your pictures to countessmary@gmail.com

Thanks,

Mary
