So I didn't sleep last night at all. When I finally realised that it was after dawn and I had no chance, I picked up the book I've been reading. Stephen King's It.


Pennywise, the clown, becomes a world-eating spider towards the end (in a no-way Lovecraftian way...) and, although I'm in no way a girly-girl, I don't like spiders. Freak me out enough that I was feeling decidedly uneasy whilst reading.

Finished the book, decided that since it was getting towards the end of the morning I should take a shower and get ready to face the day/afternoon. There was a spider in the bath. Not unusual since I live in a country village and it's getting towards autumn. I flushed it down the drain, holding the showerhead over the drain for far longer than I normally would because I was a tad amused at the irony of the whole thing.

Took my shower, turned off the taps, picked up my towel, and out fell a two-inch long spider. Out of my towel. Into the bath.

I'm not too proud to say that I screamed and jumped straight out of the tub.

I think my heart actually stopped for a good minute or so!
